Polina KOSTIUKOVICH / Dmitrii IALIN

4Tw L1, FAST but a little crashy
Throw 3Lp, BIG
SBS 3S-1L-3S, she falls on the second one
Lift L4, Position is kinda awkward, but very strong
Throw 3S, she almost saves it, but slips off the edge
SBS 3T, She falls
Lasso Lift L5, very nice
Choreo Sequence
SBS Flying Combo Spin L4, a little out of sync
Pair combo spin, L4, had a really slow moment around the change food but then got better
FIDS L4

That was pretty rough for her, but the program is kind of voidy and strange. They are FAST.

That is a really ambitious program and I'm not sure if it paid off today. I think it will in the long run.

She is pissed. Don't worry Polina, you are still a STAR :encore:

...and I get it configured and running in time to see the last half of the last team. Bah humbug.

A great final group, all 3 Russian teams were very good and exciting!

And what a great event for Lu/Mitrofanov--4th in the free skate, 5th overall, if it hadn't been for that one turnout in the SP, they would've been a spot higher I think. :cheer2: Disappointing free skate for Feng/Nyman, but still excellent placement overall, 8th in their first year together.

Pretty good showing as well for Walsh/Michaud of Canada.

K/I had the highest base value by 3 points. They got a level 3 on their 4Tw at one of their JGP events so it could go higher.

The medal ceremony is hilarious, none of the teams seems to know what do. Polina walked off the podium after the anthem and forgot about the pictures and Daria had to call her back. Then they all stepped on the top spot and the photographer made them go back to their spots. They were all confused and laughing.

I imagine that Kostiukovich/Ialin and Mishina/Galiamov will do JGP in the fall but I wonder if Pavlyuchenko/Khodykin will move up? There are lots of Russian junior pairs competing for spots but seniors isn’t as deep as it used to be.

I thought MishGal looked the most senior, despite the lack of the 4Tw.

I think so, too. Pavlyuchenko and Kostyukovich still look very young; Anastasia Mishina looks fully grown and she still has her jumps. They come across as quite powerful and their elements are quite big (IDK how it looked like in person). However, I am not sure their SB score will get them any GP assignments, and their world standings is low as they didn't have any JGP events (new partnership this year). M/G may want to compete as juniors another year, make the JGP final, and do a few senior Bs. Then again, post Olympic season means lots of retirements, so spots may open up.
