For the Cha cha portion the 2 teams that have really stood out for me so far were Strachen/Zhu and Makita/Gunara and it was for entirely different reasons; loved the precision of S/Z and the lovely smile/performance flair of M/G also woke me up...

Looking forward to Cha cha from group 3...

All five men in the second flight are wearing head to toe BLACK. Is that a requirement? A few are sparkled up just a little...in a masculine Skate Canada kind of way.

For the ladies we have pink, blue, peach and two yellow. With lots of feminine sparrkly-ness.

Watching some of the cha cha and it's very nostalgic - it's ages since I last heard compulsory dance music!

Kind of wish it was tango romantica next rather than argentine.

Marie-France Dubreuil is stalking me. Either that or she is tending to her skaters. But it is definitely one or the other.

Just got home and wondering if the DailyMotion Apple TV app is working for anyone else? I keep getting a blank screen. It's not a big deal to AirPlay instead but I shouldn't have to lol.

Yes I’m really enjoying watching the novice men and I’m surprised how good they are. Some really little ones too, lots of double axels, triples and splats! I’m looking for some of our FSU posters as well

Oh, Tim Pomares competed at U.S. Intermediate Nationals last season! I was wondering if it was the same skater. His coach (eta: choreographer was meant?) was mentioned by Ted B. as being Evgenia Chernyshova -- Nathan Chen's coach when he was still based in Salt Lake City. Nathan Chen has infiltrated Canadian Nationals, too! :D

So who here texted from Australia? :)

I'm really glad the streams aren't geoblocked so those outside Canada can share, thanks SC!

I just texted this trivia to Ted B. and he mentioned it right before the first Novice man of the final group started skating. ;) ETA: Right before the Australia mention.

(# to text is 604-418-3157)

Another thing I'm extremely grateful for is *not* having US Nats the same week. Please never go back to that (shouldn't get my hopes up though).

Novice Free Dance will kick off Tuesday's events, starting at 8 am Pacific/11 am Eastern time.
Starting order/Live scores: http://vsatech.ca/liveresults/csslive_results.cfm?strCategoryid=126

Live stream (Ted Barton, Debbi Wilkes): https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6cn1dt
Live stream in French (Myriane Samson): https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6cn1e4

 Ted Barton confesses he's never heard of or seen the Outlander series and Debbi Wilkes can't believe it. Celtic music performed by Shaelene Katrayan & Liam Lewis and they go into 1st place.

I've edited in the links to archived videos into my earlier posts above (Pattern Dances 1 & 2, Men's SP & Women's SP).

BTW, I apologize for "Ladies" instead of "Women" in this thread title (too late to edit now). I usually try to remember to use the latter word for Canadian comps (U.S. comps use "ladies" so that's my default :p).

Final 2 Novice dance teams are up...

I really liked Makita and Gunara! You honestly wouldn't have known they fell by how they performed the end of the program. Nice.

Loving Makita and Gunara. Such great basics...edges, line, knee bend. Also tons of IT factor. More than the winners. I think if M/G had not fallen they would have won.

FD protocols: http://skatecanada.ca/results/2018CDNS/2018CDNSNoviceDanceFDDRO.pdf

A real shame about the simultaneous fall by Makita & Gunara in the FD which dropped their circular step seq. to level 1 (plus a -1 deduction for both falls). :(
