Alberta as a whole is lower than the national average at 75%. I would figure big cities like Edmonton and Calgary would be higher than that, but not sure.

Only 45% of staff at Louisiana’s nursing homes are fully vaccinated

I get that nursing homes are in a tough situation. Any place that has a difficult time hiring faces the possibility of lost staff by requiring vaccinations. But it has to happen. I mean this is just not acceptable. It is hard enough for people having to go into this level of care or place their family members into it. No one should have to live in fear of the people who are paid to care for them.

Oregon has 595 cases today :wall: . More in one day than we had Monday of last week, which represented 3 days.

Again, what would have been the harm in keeping the mask mandate until after kids could be vaccinated?

72 in Umatilla County. (Here we go again. I have to drive up there for an appointment in a few days:yikes:). I had a feeling they didn't report all of their cases from the weekend yesterday. 155 hospitalizations. 6 deaths. 4,000+ vaccinations.

Provincetown, MA now has a mask advisory because of an increase in cases.

A popular Massachusetts tourist destination issued a mask advisory Monday after an outbreak of *********-19 cases following the July 4 holiday weekend.

As of Friday, 132 ********* cases that are associated with Provincetown have been reported to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, according to a joint release from the town's Board of Health and the Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment. It's unclear how many who tested positive were vaccinated.

Of the cases, 89 people who tested positive are Massachusetts residents, while the rest are from other states.

They're worried about it in Boston.

The Boston Public Health Commission said at least 35 *********-19 cases in Boston residents have been traced back to a cluster in Provincetown, adding that the overwhelming majority of the patients were fully vaccinated.

The city's health commission issued new guidance Tuesday to all Boston residents who have traveled to Provincetown so far during the month of July and until further notice.

The city is telling visitors to the town to get tested for *********-19 at least five days after returning, regardless of vaccination status or symptoms.

Boston health officials are also asking visitors to self-isolate and avoid groups or gatherings for at least five days and until they receive a negative *********-19 test, regardless of vaccination status.

"The state recorded 744 cases in the last day..."
I'm supposed to get blood work at the hospital Thursday since I didn't go last year. They still require masks, and I am sure they will be extra sanitary, right? The outpatient clinic is inside, off the main lobby, away from any "sick" people. And it shouldn't be too crowded at 8 a.m., right when they open.

The city next to us just had a school board meeting last night and voted on no masks. DeWine already cancelled all mandates.

I'm glad I wore my mask to the cemetery last week. Tim's the only person I hugged. I better see how he is feeling.

In addition to the states in orange that I listed yesterday, the NY Times now has the following states also at 10 or above cases per 100K today: Kentucky, Georgia, California, South Carolina, & Tennessee.

Arkansas Children's Hospital doctor warns of critically ill kids with *********-19

"Arkansas Children's Hospital reported 11 confirmed *********-19 hospitalizations Monday along with several more suspected.

'About half of those are critically ill. They’re in our ICU requiring ventilator support or really have *********-pneumonia,' said Dr. Rick Barr, Chief Clinical Officer at Arkansas Children's.

Barr said the hospitalizations are about two to three times more than they saw back in the winter months with *********-19.

'Previously most of the children that were admitted were incidentally found to be ********* positive,' Barr said. 'They weren’t admitted because they had *********. They were admitted for some other reason. Now we’re seeing more and more children that are admitted because of their ********* infection. That’s the primary reason for their hospital admission.'

The most serious cases are those who are adolescents or 'tweens.'

'They’re the ones that are in the ICU that have *********-pneumonia and are requiring significant support,' Barr said.

The hospital has not admitted a child that has been vaccinated."

An Alabama doctor talks about what conditions are like in a state where the majority choose not to get vaccinated.

Dr. Brytney Cobia said Monday that all but one of her ********* patients in Alabama did not receive the vaccine. The vaccinated patient, she said, just needed a little oxygen and is expected to fully recover. Some of the others are dying.

“I’m admitting young healthy people to the hospital with very serious ********* infections,” wrote Cobia, a hospitalist at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, in an emotional Facebook post Sunday. “One of the last things they do before they’re intubated is beg me for the vaccine. I hold their hand and tell them that I’m sorry, but it’s too late...”

“A few days later when I call time of death,” continued Cobia on Facebook, “I hug their family members and I tell them the best way to honor their loved one is to go get vaccinated and encourage everyone they know to do the same.”

“They cry. And they tell me they didn’t know. They thought it was a hoax. They thought it was political. They thought because they had a certain blood type or a certain skin color they wouldn’t get as sick. They thought it was ‘just the flu’. But they were wrong. And they wish they could go back. But they can’t. So they thank me and they go get the vaccine. And I go back to my office, write their death note, and say a small prayer that this loss will save more lives.”

Ontario had 135 new cases with 4 deaths and a positivity rate of 0.8. The number of new infections is slightly higher than yesterday’s. Now they are talking about waiting until 90% of eligible people in Ontario are double vaccinated before fully reopening. That number in Toronto is 65%.

I just came across it. I can't imagine what this is like for the doctors. I'd probably break down and cry if this happened to me. (Which is why I'm not a doctor or a nurse).

Eric Clapton won't perform at venues that require proof of vaccination.

“Following the PM’s announcement on Monday the 19th of July 2021 I feel honor-bound to make an announcement of my own,” Clapton said. “I wish to say that I will not perform on any stage where there is a discriminated audience present. Unless there is provision made for all people to attend, I reserve the right to cancel the show.”

I wish to say that I will not be seeing Eric Clapton in concert. Not because of this, but because 90% of his music is dull and the years of drug abuse killed his guitar talent.

I would think he would want his audience vaccinated, but what do I know?

I'm seeing some questions being raised about the Alabama doctor story based on the recent data from Alabama. I would reserve judgment temporarily. It may be true, I would just be careful with it until further verification, that's all.

Louisiana reported 5,388 cases today. Up from about 1,200 yesterday. This is the state's third highest daily case count.

Texas has seen nearly 9,000 *********-19 deaths since February. All but 43 were unvaccinated people.

A hospital in Springfield, Missouri has opened its 3rd ********* ward. They haven't heard anything back from their request for an alternative care site for recovering patients.

That story about the Alabama doctor above is being covered by at least 5 publications, including NBC News and the Miami Herald.

Florida doctors see 87% increase of *********-19 cases in kids under 12

'In children, less than 12 years of age, it was an 87% increase, and in those children who are 12 to 19 years of age, it was an 84% increase,' explained Dr. Jason Salemi, associate professor of epidemiology at USF College of Public Health.

At Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, that has translated into an uptick in emergency room visits. The chief medical officer tells FOX 13 News a record number of pediatric patients are testing positive for *********-19.

'Our last seven days, we've seen more patients than any other seven days since the ********* began. So we're seeing a dramatic increase in kids,' said Dr. Joseph Perno.

In that week, 31 kids sick with the ***** checked into the ER. Dr. Perno is now on high alert for multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children. The rare illness can occur after a *********-19 infection and can be dangerous.

'Those kids are ill. They typically need intensive care hospitalization. So it is definitely something we're concerned about. And it's one of the reasons we're preaching to those who can be vaccinated to get vaccinated,' Perno said.

Children do tend to have more mild cases of ********, doctors say, yet over the last month, hospitalizations statewide are also trending up, jumping from nearly 40 on July 1 to more than 100 last week."

Breakthrough ********* cases prompt new calls to mask up in Washington state

Nevada reported 28 deaths today. (27 of them in Clark County/Las Vegas).

Utah reports largest one-day increase in *********-19 cases since Feb., UDOH reacts

Almost 900 cases in Utah today.

‘A tipping point’: Kansas City hospitals are turning away patients due to ********* surge

'Grim' outlook: Delta variant's surge in Oklahoma causes medical professionals to worry about children's health, hospital capacity

"Tyungu said she believes that many parents and families haven’t fully grasped that the ***** has mutated to a variant that can much more easily infect children than the original version. Hospitalization rates for adults have decreased, she said, but the same is not true for children."

Oregon has 421 new cases reported today. 48 are in Umatilla County. 54 are in Jackson County. 1 death. 6,000+ vaccinations. Per Bloomburg, we should hit 60% of the total population with at least one dose . . . any . . . day . . . now.

Add Idaho & North Carolina to the states with 10 or more cases per 100K.

Louisiana, averaging 43 per 100K, vaulted over Arkansas today for most cases per capita in the country. The West and the South are both turning orange on the NYT map. (Excluding Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, & northeast Florida--which are red). Nevada is up to 27 cases per 100K.
