@VIETgrlTerifa sharing an article and noting that it has interesting quotes (which it does) hardly qualifies as pot-stirring. People here are not obligated to only share or comment on articles that are favorable to particular skaters. Skaters can take responsibility for their own words, and it is unrealistic to think that readers can or should need to know them personally in order to understand the tone or meaning of their comments. If Zack is just kidding or something, then he can say so. Otherwise, he should expect his comments to be taken at face value.

"Kim Lucine represented Monaco at four World Championships and here he is to walk you from the kiss and cry to the Backstage at [Milan Worlds]" - he shows up after the 1-minute mark:

From my perspective there are usually 2 kinds of trash talkers. Those that can back it up with the goods and are trying to intimidate the competition and those that have confidence issues and are talking others down to talk themselves up. Given all the issues Hub/Don have had with skating clean in big moments he's looking like the 2nd kind and it's not doing them any favors.

I think they are more than capable of winning medals and performing well but he needs to focus more on what's going on in their own heads and not aim it at the competition.

I agree. This sounds quite arrogant:

“I wish the Shibutanis were [in Milan] because last year I gave them my medal,” Donohue said, “and I don’t plan on doing that this year.”
Arrogant indeed. I wouldn’t pay a cent to see them on SOI. I watch on TV because it’s free (after paying monthly cable bill).

hmm - I like this feisty talk - they don't want to win a medal just because the Shibs aren't here - they want to have to really compete for it. I think many athletes have expressed regrets when their closest competitors are not there. Do you think, for example, that Megan and Eric were not more excited about their second World title when more of the top competitors were there? Of course it means more if you can out-skate a full field. I actually think it is a sign of respect.

Wheee! That’s the most trash talk we’ve had in dance for awhile. It would have had more weight if the shibs were actually there though. This is like mouthing off to the bully after he left the school yard and he can’t hear you.

Interesting article about Worlds from Sonia Bianchetti, who attended the event in Milan: http://soniabianchetti.com/writings_2018worlds.html

I appreciated her comments about many things, but in particular the step sequences. Some of the positions in step sequences these days, especially in singles, are just not attractive and kind of inexplicable both aesthetically and musically. A clear case of rules run amok IMO (one of many).

At least they were honest, not yet another 'we just want to have fun out there', or another generic comment.
I interpreted Zach's comment as being angry at himself for his mistake last year and handing the medal away to the Shibs and telling himself not to do it again. Not as an arrogant slam at the Shibs.

I agree to call it like it is. Like P&C wouldn't like a redo to beat V&M at World's.

People like to beat their competitors both at their best.

I don't see anything wrong with what Zach had to say tbh.
