Was going to ask why terror, as that was not noted in what I read so far but I see the CNN link says "Separately, four law enforcement sources said witnesses reported the suspect was yelling Allahu Akbar."

Horrific in any case.

Weirdly, the report I read said he jumped out of the truck with two "imitation guns."

Josh Groban tweeted out that he was nearby and was shaken up by what happened as he would have been right there if not a detour with his dog into a park.

That guns were involved (according to the original link, shots were fired) IMO, means this isn't somebody mistakenly hitting the accelerator instead of brakes. I'm praying for the victims.

A friend on Facebook who lives in downtown Manhattan not far from the incident has posted that the police are asking the Trick and Treaters to go home. I wonder if that includes the parade?!

BMCC and Stuyvesant High school are right by that area. It's a kid friendly area, for Manhattan. I really, really hope none of the victims were kids.

The suspect had a rental truck from Home Depot (wonder how it will affect their rental policies) and a BB gun and a paintball gun (what for??). People heared him say Allah Akbar, and described him as avg. male in his late 20's.

One of the news stations had his name up on the screen. They then took it down. It was definitely an middle eastern name.

IMO - totally irresponsibly the same network announced which hospital the guy it in. And, he is in the same hospital as some of the victims.

It's not a Middle Eastern name; he's from Uzbekistan. The suspect has been ID'ed as Sayfullo Saipov, an Uzbek national, who resides in Tampa, Florida.

He yelled "Allah Akbar" to make sure every one knows why he's doing it. Paddock destroyed all evidence to make sure no-one know why he did it.
