Watching 'Blackspace' which is a Hebrew language crime thriller/teen drama series. The plot is that there is a school shooting by a group in gothic unicorn masks and it is determined it was some of the students and they need to find who it is that committed the crime. Might be a bit upsetting for people who find this a sensitive topic ... but it is not too graphic.

It is very engaging, but very typical teen series in that it has a heap of impossibly good looking 26 year olds playing high school aged teenagers and them all living impossibly cool looking lives. lol you know the typical, lets have a pool party with a heap of liquor etc and there's not a passing thought to where their parents might be and where they got the money for all the stuff or if even anyone actually has any homework or exam preparation to do :lol: But I am still enjoying it.

As much as people say Netflix is declining, I do really enjoy the international content Netflix has. I've watched Korean shows, Turkish shows, Nigerian shows, Israeli shows ... and there's stuff from a lot more countries that I have bookmarked to watch when I get the time. I find it very interesting to watch popular series from other countries. The Russian language show on Chernobyl is next on my list when I get the time.

Although I find with subtitled shows, you need to be very present. No half-watching while doing other things!

Also - years late to the party, but watched The Staircase. Goodness me it was like a self-tribute made by a grandiose narcissist. Guilty.

I've been watching The Movies That Made Us on Netflix. Season 2 is up now. It is basically documenting all the stuff that almost derailed some of our most favorite and iconic movies. Lots of fun if you enjoy the behind the scenes stuff from movies. You can binge watch these or just pick the ones that interest you. They also have a Holiday Movies That Made Us series.

Made the mistake of watching the first episode of season 2 of Ted Lasso. My goal was to un-suscribe to Apple TV and re-subscribe when the season was over so that I could binge. Now I'm hooked.

It's such a great show. I absolutely adore Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent. He was my MVP this episode. Shout out to Cristo Fernandez as Dani Rojas. I love that character. But I pity him growing up with that name. Jesus is a common name in Latin America but naming your child Cristo takes the whole thing to a new level!

Finally got around to subscribing to Britbox. So much stuff to watch, mostly for nostalgia sake. Currently watching something from the early 80s, but getting annoyed as they've blown up the picture to 16:9 full screen, meaning the top and bottom of the original vision is cut off. Guys - this is why you pillar box old 4:3 content!

I never understood why they did that. They should at least give people the option the way the Simpsons did when they streamed on FX’s app.

The Last Letter From Your Lover is such a lovely throwback. A glossy melodramatic romantic period drama. It doesn’t all work but the ENDING!!! Also, this will make great figure skating music.

I finished the last of the Harry Potter movies last night, available on Peacock. It was quite nice to watch movies 5 - 8 one after the other. Took me probably a month to do it. Now I am sort of wishing I had started all the way back at the beginning. Oh well, I do think I’m going to watch the first one just for the contrast of how young they were then vs. at the end.

The third one, Prisoner of Azkaban, is still my favorite despite two MAJOR issues I have with it as a book fan.
One is the invention of Super!Hermione who became way too perfect and stole parts of Ron's personality and lines; and the other is not explaining the Marauder's background story enough towards the end. However, it's the only movie that I feel that was actually made by a cinematic master who really knows filmcraft. There's so much magic and tonal consistency throughout the film. There's so much stimulating visuals and nothing is static. I just think there was so much heart and soul into this one that it makes the other films seem very paint-by-the-numbers in comparison. Hogwarts and the HP world never looked so alive and within grasp of our world and yet have so much magic going on all at once. The changing of the scenery, the way the camera follows the students and thus giving us a grasp of how Hogwarts is laid out, and the cinematography are all top-notch.

Why does the internet hate organized people? They like all this tiled bullshit in the order they decide it should go. Netflix is getting rid of your ability to order your watchlist they way you want to order it. This effing bullshit is coming in September. Why does the internet work like this? I effing hate this format on everything. :angryfire

Just started "Dr. Death" on Peacock. Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater are both good, and Joshua Jackson is quite chilling.

I'm watching Glow Up on Netflix. I usually end up fast forwarding through the insufferable judges comments but I do enjoy seeing what people try to create. I can't fast forward through all the judges comments and I am getting extremely tired of hearing Val Garland asking for a conflab with Dominic Skinner. She makes it sound 100000% pretentious. I will be happy if I never hear the word again.

I love Glow Up! Is conflab a word they made up? Becaus I never hear it anywhere else.

In the pantheon of movies made for children or based on literature for children "Prisoner" is at the top or near the top of my favorites list. I agree with everything you said here.
