We just watched the first season of Tehran, about an Israeli female hacker agent sent to Iran to run an intelligence operation. I’m not sure the plot completely made sense, but all the twists and turns made it fun to watch. I was pretty absorbed. And it was interesting to see a show set in Iran (although I guess it was actually filmed in Athens). On AppleTV.

Currently halfway through. I had to take a break because I found I was actually absorbing the intensity of the show! I was actually getting stressed lol. But I do very much want to continue soon.

Just saw Concrete Cowboy starring Idris Elba on Netflix. It is a simple and predictable movie but very enjoyable! All about a father and rebellious son reconnecting through horses. At the end of the movie there is commentary from some real life members of the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club which really is in danger.

I really enjoyed the first episode of "Mare of Easttown"---so many rich characters and layers to this story. I think I now associate Kate Winslet with Meryl Streep because I know if they are involved their characters will usually be riveting. And Winslet does not disappoint here.
Started watching this last night. Agree. First episode sucked me in. Kate Winslet is so good.

Anyone watching “The Nevers”? Ads keep coming up for me - I’m assuming because AI knows I like gothic steampunky type stuff already.

This is probably not of interest to many people but our weekly date nights have turned into watching the new Mighty Ducks series and the John Stamos show Big Shot on Disney plus. I’m not sure when we got so lame but I’m blaming c*vid and kids, lol.

Mighty Ducks is super cheesy and predictable but nostalgia is a powerful force 🤷‍♀️ Big Shot is actually kind of entertaining and much better written and is bringing back nice memories of coaching a high school girls basketball team. Did John Stamos get bad plastic surgery at one point though? His nose is distractingly weird.

I'm watching Gadget Man with Richard Ayoade on Amazon Prime. The first episode on camping was hilarious. Adding a couple quotes to show why he's so worth watching.

Last half of the opening monologue:
Maybe gadgets can soften my reluctance to venture forth and help me take a bit of the inside outside. To test this watertight theory I'm going to take a high tech camping trip with a famous person. I intend to show that even I, a cowardly wretch and scorner of the great outdoors, can learn to love nature with the help of a gadget.

Closing monologue:
So am I a convert to the great outdoors?
No I'm not. To me it's an appalling act of lunacy.
Can gadgets make being in the great outdoors easier?
Yes they can. It's much more pleasant with the use of gadgets.
Can you start using so many gadgets that you might as well be inside?
Yes. I think we're at that point.
Am I now going to go inside?
Yes I am. I'm going to do that.

You should also start watching The IT Crowd on Netflix if you haven't already. His character, Moss, is the best part of the show IMO.

The IT Crowd is one of my all time favourites along with Black Books and Ab Fab. Absurd British humour at it's best.

I got half way through episode 2 and stopped watching, but I'm not good with supernatural stuff so maybe don't read too much into that. I just couldn't get into the story or characters.

I've started watching 'Zero Chill' on Netflix - the skating series with an even more ridiculous premise than 'Spinning Out' (who moves to the UK from Canada to train for ice hockey?). It's hilarious. So very bad but I can't stop watching.

I’m fine with supernatural stuff. The trailers I’ve seen remind me of Theodora Goss’s “Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club“ trilogy.

We watched Derry Girls last night, something the husband stumbled on and I had never heard
of and ohmygoodness we were howling! So funny! There’s only 12 episodes unfortunately.

We are also going through the IT Crowd, and Kim’s Convenience. I wanted to watch Ted Lasso, but it’s not available on any of our platforms.

The principal in Derry Girls is my spirit animal. I LOVE her. Anyhoo saw this teaser: Did we know about this?

If you’ve bought an apple product in the past couple of years you probably have access to apple+. If not, I’d definitely see if you can get a free trial. Ted Lasso is perfection.

I'm in a Downton Abbey group on FaceBook (tell me how you're getting older without saying your age!) and people sometimes post other shows DA fans might enjoy.

Actual post this morning:
I'm 4 episodes into Season 1 of "Call the Midwife" and so far, meh. I'm not a huge fan of watching shows about childbirth...I understand the title of the show but is EVERY story centered around childbirth in the later Seasons?

LOL!

Trying to watch Shadow and Bone. First episode has the lead cause the death of three people (arguable but this is my interpretation) and after three episodes, there has been no fallout. Someone tell me it is dealt with eventually, then I will continue. In the meantime, I am rewatching The Set Up.

So we did a double feature last Saturday: We were absolutely DELIGHTED with "The Mitchells and the Machines." There is so much to enjoy in this one. And then we saw the much anticipated "Without Remorse." What a DUD. I won't say more.
The Mitchells vs. the Machines was really fun! My kids are a little young so they were in and out of watching but us adults enjoyed it. There was a few laugh out loud moments, the voice acting I thought was really good, and it's a unique style of animation that was for the most part delightful. Though I will say that there is A LOT going on visually and at times it felt like a little much. I feel like it'll be one that you see different details if you watch it multiple times.

I watched his Travel Man series when it was on Hulu and loved it. Will definitely check these out, thanks!

If you know anything about Science DO NOT watch Stowaway on Amazon Prime. Sounded so good but oh my I couldn't get past the mistakes - assume they did not hire any scientists to help on the movie. The performances were all well done though so there's that.

Also watched Greta on Netflix. It was a good suspense movie with some pretty good twists in it.

We just finished watching Superstore and are looking for a new many seasons sitcom on Netflix.

ANy suggestions appreciated. We have watched The Good Place and The Office already, tried Parks and Rec and Schitt's Creek but didn't take to it. I'm thinking of trying Community or Jane the Virgin.
