One of my favourite series of recent years. Waiting impatiently for the latest episodes (Lethal White) to land here, particularly as I've had the book sitting waiting to be read for months, as I prefer to watch adaptations before reading the originals.

Trivia: Tom Burke is the son of David Burke who played Watson to Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes in the Granada Holmes series.

We have come along way when it comes to AIDS, but the parallels with the current YKW suggests our societies still have some issues.

It is a great series. Episode Three is pretty emotional so make sure you have some tissues to hand.

We watched the documentary What Would Sophia Loren Do? on Netflix. It's only 30 minutes and talks about the lifelong infatuation that a New Jersey Italian American grandmother has had for Sophia Loren. It was made by her filmmaker daughter. It's very simple, low key, and sweet. My dear husband, who has a thing about the appreciation of older people, loved it.

I think in future years we will watch in horror how LTC has handled the current pandemic

We watched Nomadland last night. Were even tempted to see it at the theater since the chart was only showing one group of 2 seats taken and I thought the big screen would enhance the experience, but did the Hulu free trial instead. I liked the film and I'm glad I saw it, and it gave us a lot to talk about, but it's not something I would see again and I'm not sure if I would call the film itself Oscar worthy. For Mcdormand herself, probably, and a yes for cinematography. The corner of SD where much of the movie was filmed is a favorite destination of ours and it was very cool recognizing so many familiar spots that we love. Now that we have Hulu for a little bit, we need to find other things to watch. On a brief scan, I saw some documentaries that look
interesting.

Most of the stuff on Disney’s Star service is old but they do have Helstrom but only the first two episodes.

Watched the first two episodes of Helstrom and loved it! But unfortunately it seems the series has already been cancelled. Hopefully the characters will at least appear in other Marvel series.

I spent last evening on Hulu going back 45 years and watching "The Last Waltz" and the newer documentary on The Band. Can't decide if it made me feel young or old, but that's such an awesome concert video and it definitely made me feel something.

I am watching Amend:The Fight For America, on Netflix. It’s a 6-part docu series on the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution, a response to issues related to former slaves following the Civil War, by addressing citizenship rights and equal protection under the law.

Hosted by Will Smith with a large cast A List Hollywood stars, it chronicles why the 14th Amendment was needed, how it was created, its impact, and both its deterioration and defence.

I have watched the first two episodes, they are each an hour long and the subject matter gruesome. It is hard to binge. But it is fascinating and gripping, give me an opportunity to know of some very important figures like Frederick Douglass, Ida B Wells (any reason why there is not a biopic on her starring Octavia Spencer?), and even someone like Bree Newsome.

I watched Behind Her Eyes on Netflix. It started out well but then became predictable in the last couple of episodes. I would rate this as ok enough to watch if you couldn't find something else better.

I just finished the first season of His Dark Materials on HBO. SO. GOOD. They couldn't have found better actors to play Mrs. Coulter and Lord Asriel than Ruth Wilson and James McAvoy. They're perfect. But for the life of me, the revelation is the young actor who plays Will. He's phenomenal.

I read the books 20 years ago and re read them 5 years later. I loved them. I'll read them again eventually after I'm done watching the series.

On to season 2!

We just finished watching Bridgerton. I agree with @Ka3sha's review--it was rather silly, but fun. :D

My husband and I both agreed that we're not buying Penelope as Lady Whistledown. The idea that a girl who didn't even know how women get pregnant could be writing such a sophisticated newsletter doesn't really jibe.

While I often enjoy Netflix’s true crime series, I though the Hotel Cecil one was a misstep for them. The attempt to relate the Hotel’s past with what happened to Elisa Lam made no sense and the fear-mongering about skid row (which again had absolutely nothing to do with what happened to Lam) was offensive.

I enjoyed the last episode of WandaVision and the series overall but I think the penultimate episode was stronger than the finale.
