I've been watching Star Trek: Voyager from the beginning while doing other things in the evenings - I've seen the whole series before, so it's sort of as background noise.
Did that last year and enjoyed it. I'm now making my second attempt at Star Trek: Deep Space 9. I never got into it when it was first on, and stopped watching after a while (didn't help that the TV channel showing it kept changing the time slot and it was late at night as well). I'm still not that into it but I've at least made it to season 3 this time. I know a lot of people tout it as one of the best of the Trek franchise but I'm not seeing it myself (and for a show based on a space station I always prefered Babylon 5, which I also rewatched recently).

Also finished rewatch of original Star Trek. It's kind of fashionable for people to rag on it for various reasons, myself included, but I'd forgotten how good it actually was, particularly the first season. Yes, it went downhill in S3 and the small budget became very obvious, but overall it rekindled my love of original Trek.

It took me a few minutes to recognize Katie Sackhoff on the latest episode of The Mandalorian. The hair color kept throwing me off.

Like @vgerdes I also went to older crimes series. I finished S08-10 of Hawaii 5-0 (travelled to Honolulu in 2018 and SO want to go back :wuzrobbed).

And because a poster mentioned NCIS LA months back I started watching it too. I figured at 24 eps per season/10 seasons and counting, I won’t run out anytime soon. :D

I also tried NCIS New Orleans but couldn’t get into it...

And I’llbe finishing good old Schitt’s Creek this week.

Thanks for all the Netflix Christmas stuff reviews! I’ve ben very disappointed with their movies/series in the past and wouldn’t have tried watching them without your good words.

I am watching The Living and the Dead on Amazon and trying to figure out what kind of storyline it's going to be. Ghost story or mentally ill patients. Colin Morgan is good as always. I've become such a fan of his.

I loooooved B5, and DS9 is not B5, but it is perfectly serviceable in the Star Trek genre. I wouldn’t call it the best, but it’s not the worst either. I mean, René Auborjonois, what more do you need?:D

if you like Star Trek the original (and I do) have you watched the Orville? Best homage ever, so sorry a new season won’t be here for a year. :(

Hmm. Maybe I'm not the best Star Trek fan after all. :shuffle:

Yes! At first I was like 'well, this is just Seth McFarlane's Star Trek fan fiction' but then realised I'd been complaining about there being no straightforward sci-fi on TV, and The Orville fits that bill, particularly S2 where they dialled down the McFarlane humour. The last couple of episodes were awesome.

I can take or leave the final season of Babylon 5. It was the season they thought they wouldn't get so they kind of finished it off at S4 and then found out they had S5 after all. It's clearly a rushed add-on.

Yeah.

Now that I think about it, I think I did force myself through it.

That was me who started binging NCIS:LA this year and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! I still watch the reruns during the week while I'm working from home and it's a great show to help me pass time during my sometimes crazy work days. I'm gonna laugh if you binge it as fast as I did though (I flew through it in 5.5 weeks and that was for all 11 seasons, LOL). :cheer:

Today my mom discovered all the Netflix Christmas movies that are available to watch there and she's all excited because they're ones that she hasn't seen yet (I think she's seen almost all the movies currently available on all the various cable channels). She also just replaced two old TVs with smart TVs (Roku ones) so now she can literally watch her Christmas stuff on any TV in the house. I may barracade myself in my room until after the new year, LOL

Just finished marathoning the 4th season of The Crown. Way, way better than Season 3. This was really good. And...

...I'm so glad this entire season wasn't solely about everything that happened with Charles and Diana.

Only a few episodes left of The Crown and this has so far been right up there with Seasons 1 and 2 for me.

Jon Bernthal is up for season 3 of The Punisher. Make it happen Disney! :cheer2:

I think it would have to happen on Disney Plus if it ever comes together. Netflix has pulled out (or was forced out?) of producing any new MCU content. I know that Hulu is a possibility, but a distant one, IMO.

I believe that the rights to the characters reverts back to Marvel by the end of the month. Disney decided to end their agreement with Netflix once they decided to start their own streaming service. Charlie Cox is also game for continuing playing Daredevil. Maybe Daredevil will appear in Spider-Man 3? If only they could figure out a way to get the rights to Spider-Man back from Sony... :slinkaway

If you like quirky and weird love stories you might like Safety Not Guaranteed on Netflix. A reporter and two interns check out an internet ad looking for a time traveling companion. I wasn't sure what to expect but I would also call this one cute and sweet but not too saccharine either. Mark Duplass is great at walking the line between weird, neurotic and likable. Aubrey Plaza did a great job of being cynical while still wanting to believe in something.

I also liked Safety Not Guaranteed a lot. Primer is like the dark horrible version of it. In a good way. There are some amateurish moments (it was filmed on a pretty low budget) and I do think there is a weird sexist aspect to the portrayal of one character's wife imo, but it's interesting enough to be worth watching anyway, if you like the cheap weird indie film aesthetic (which I do).
