Love, Balls and Courting: Tennis V

Felix and Lorenzo both lost today. Not that I expected either of them to go deep into the second week, but I would have liked to have seen them go further than this. The silver lining is that I can now watch with more neutral enjoyment. It seems like both the men's and women's crowns are pretty open this year, though it's nice to see Carlos looking good on court.
 
Yeah but neither has a good h2h record against Zverev so I guess odds are high for Zverev to win again

It's unlikely, but anything's possible as Ben proved late last nite! From defending his Masters in Canada to his upset of Carlos, you have to be impressed w/ his chances vs either Sascha or Karen! Tiafoe's lucky to be in the SF! ;-)

Yeah but I am not rooting for the dude with domestic abuse issue. I was hoping for someone to beat him.

That said if I had to choose between him and Sinner then I know whom I choose

Shelton has had the toughest draw of the whole tournament, imo. I'd root for him if he wasn't a MAGA douche waffle.

With Carlos out, my interest on the men's side has gone completely down the drain.

Same here when Djokovic was knocked out! It's an end of an era! It seems like a good time to ween myself off tennis as I have w/ Golf, Baseball, & The NBA! Heaven knows I haven't played tennis in 25 yrs.! The interest has waned precipitously as the Big 3 have slowly left the stage! I'm happy for Sascha Zverev; winning his 2nd Major of the yr. after capturing the French Open back in June! He defeated Shelton in 4 sets! He had already made the final of Wimbledon, so this season will rank very highly in the history books! Zverev has a chance to overtake Sinner for YE #1! There are 2 Masters & the YEC which will decide it all more than likely! :rolleyes: :40beers: :eek::grandpa:
 
Ben Shelton finally broke Zverev's serve yesterday, since what, 2024? But he was completely outclassed and gassed yesterday, though I hope to see him again in a final. The kid's got vibes.

Since Federer left, I haven't followed tennis closely. Until my skater son decided collegiate skating wasn't for him and joined the varsity tennis team instead. Now it's tennis all the time in my household.

The players I was rooting for all got knocked out early at the USO, so I wasn't really all that interested in the outcome this year. As someone else said up thread, I would be rooting for Shelton more if he wasn't a "MAGA douchewaffle," lol. But he got outclassed in the final. Hoping to see Sinner and Alcaraz duke it out for No. 1 again sometime soon.
