Lombardia Trophy 2024 - Women's SP & FS

Gubanova - I don't know this music - is it from a soundtrack?

Dress kind of looks like a galactic night sky and then there is a drapey piece of white chiffon going across the front just below her collarbone and over the other shoulder and across her back to meet the bodice again in the middle. This is very interesting music - not at all her usual, quiet style - I like it. Someone else will have to comment on her tech.

Enjoyed that from Gubanova! Her jumps look bigger, but no idea what was going on with the loop, there.

Everhardt - I know she's skating to Firebird - red dress with an illusion neckline but a red collar and gloves, lots of gold stones and crystals on the bodice and collar, the skirt has some black on the underskirt. Good first three jumping passes, though I think the 2nd & 3rd ones may get reviewed. This program choreo is definitely a bit more paint-by-the numbers than her SP, IMO. She is quite the jumping machine though. Wow. Once she gets some more confidence, I expect she'll relax and become more expressive. But, I'm THIS close to becoming an uber.

Good effort from Sarah. That felt a bit rushed throughout for me? But it’s still very early in the season though.

Kaori - black dress with opera gloves. Hmmmm... Some of this choreo seems a bit of an artistic stretch for Kaori. I feel like she can grow into it and it could be a massive crowd-pleaser by Worlds, but right now... I'm not entirely sold on it. And she falls on her last jump. Better here than at her GPs where the fields are deeper and will be coming for her, lol.

Okay, I wasn’t convinced at first, but I loved that from Kaori. No clue how All That Jazz even remotely works for her style of skating and somehow it (mostly) did.

She could have portrayed Velma Kelly and kept her hair color. In fact, Velma does all the singing here, so it would have made sense.
That's what I was thinking!

I do think the blonde hair maybe stands out and breaks up the all-black of her costume and accentuates the gold accents/stoning on it. I don't hate it with this program.

Can Amber hold on to the lead? Will see.

eta Depending on review, Amber might have done enough.
