If you’re planning to read it again, I highly recommend Emily Wilson’s translation.![]()
I have the Fitzgerald translation from college and honestly think I'll stick with it. The poetic language is more to my personal taste, though I completely respect the perspective of making the story more accessible to modern readers. To be fair, I think this desire is what inspired Christopher Nolan to write the script the way he did, but it just didn't resonate with me. For context, I read the King James Version of the Bible and love the poetry of Donne and Milton.
