Let's Talk Movies #36 - 2020 - Yep it is a new decade

Box Office Mojo - U.S. Domestic Box Office: Weekend 18

$233M global opening for The Devil Wears Prada 2!!! 😱 I couldn’t get a ticket! 😩 I’m a bit surprised that it did so well outside the U.S.

It looks like Michael dropped off about 44%. It’s still making tons of 💵.

Notable opening next week: Mortal Kombat II, Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D)🎤 🎶, and The Sheep Detectives 🐑.
I saw the Devil Wears Prada at a 4 p.m. matinee and it was full. I'm not surprised by the numbers, including outside the U.S.. Some of the movie takes place in Italy, Emily Blunt is British, and there are cameos from non-Americans. Plus, fashion and humor (and Meryl Streep) appeal beyond the U.S. as well.

If the actors are willing to do it, there could be a third movie in the series. There's no cliffhanger, but it definitely left room for another sequel. They'd obviously have to do it sooner this time.

The Sheep Detectives has me scratching my head. I never thought I'd see a cast like this and Rotten Tomatoes ratings like this (though it's still early) for a movie with this kind of premise.

I have prebooked my movies for next Saturday - a double feature for The Devil Wears Prada 2 and The Sheep Detectives. 😊

The Sheep Detectives looks so far. It appears to be PG film that has Hugh Jackman, his sheep, and a mystery. 🐑 🕵️‍♂️ 🤔

Hokum looked good - it appears to be a psychological horror film that Neon is distributing and stars Adam Scott.

It seems that movie theatres are doing a lot better in the 🇺🇸 in 2026 so far. 😃

Update: The Sheep Detectives was apparently the Screen Unseen (AMC) and Movie Mystery (Regal) film this afternoon. If you are part of the subreddits, the reactions from AMCsAList and RegalUnlimited have been mostly positive so far.

Yes. And the sheep are the detectives who solve the mystery. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, and Brett Goldstein are some of the actors voicing the sheep.

You never saw Babe? Or Chicken Run? Or Homeward Bound?

I saw Babe. I think of these as G-rated movies made for children.

The trailer I saw for Sheep Detectives seemed like it was aimed at an older audience. Maybe I'm wrong.

The story of Sheep Detectives seems to be for adults, but I think it’s being talked about as also “child friendly” because it’s rated PG.

May the 4th be with you! :cheer2:
I tried to bring the Star Wars theme into our BINGO night tonight but didn't have much success. They did laugh at my lightsaber joke. Or maybe they just liked the lightsaber.

Mini-Mac asked me if we were going to see it as it "seemed aimed at our demographic." I was insulted. :D

We miss you Anthony Bourdain!

So I am not a big fan of a lot of horror films with their torture porn and their devious and disgusting ways for humans to kill other humans. HOWEVER when an entity is involved and when I care about the main character then I'm interested. And this guy, with his stocking cap with cute animals, has captured my empathy. So here is the trailer:

I just watch Amanda the Jedi's recap/review of horror movies.

Would you mind putting in the title of the movie? Some of us would rather not click on a horror movie trailer link (for the reasons you mentioned) unless we know exactly what movie it is!

As of now there are two must see movies on my list.

The Devil wears Prada2
Michael

I want to see one of these on my birthday which is very soon.

I am going to the movies tonight for the first time in months to see Mortal Kombat 2! I feel like an addict going through withdrawal!

I thought it was overrated. I guess part of it's brilliance is supposed to be it's direction, which I rarely pay attention to.

Is it worth watching Citizen Kane or is it over rated?
I second @Wyliefan. It’s one I’m planning on rewatching eventually just because I want to establish my exact feelings about it personally. Also because I’m a huge cinematography nerd and Gregg Toland’s work on that movie is stunning and he does things no one else had tried up to that point. It’s definitely one of those movies that’s worth watching at least once.

Hey, apologies, I just saw this. It is a reboot of "Resident Evil" but I will include the title from now on.
