I'll just say what's bound to be said: what a joke 'fairer judging'.

If fairer judging means going along with a plan to get your own team a medal and then whistleblowing it after it doesn't happen, when you were the one giving the most outrageous ordinals. ;)

Congratulations to her, anyways.

I can look at other countries' award systems and see plenty of honorees whose only "contribution" to society was donating $$$$ to a political party, being part of the old boys' network, etc etc etc. I have no problem with Jean Senft getting the Order of Canada. Congratulations to her.

You could always have a problem with all of those things, too, rather than excusing her attempted cheating behavior in a sport you love… no? ?

Which ones are those? I didn't see that.

That's the first time I read through them all. Definitely recognize Bruny Surin's name. That's it.

In her final World Championships in 2018, Senft's placements of the Free Dance were:
(Actual placement in the segment in parentheses)

2. Weaver / Poje ?? (4)
3. Gilles / Poirier ?? (6)
4. Hubbell / Donohue ?? (2)
5. Cappellini / Lanotte ?? (3)
6. Guignard / Fabbri ?? (9)
7. Chock / Bates ?? (5)
8. Hawayek / Baker ?? (10)
9. Stepanova / Bukin ?? (7)
10. Zagorski / Guerreiro ?? (8)
11. Soucisse / Firus ?? (14)

^ I read your post wrong, but that shows more of the same from her.

And that’s what she’s being rewarded for. Promotion of Canadians. Makes sense

Lord have mercy.

I see V/Moir have are recipients as well. Have any other members of the Canadian figure skating community received this honor?

Yes lots of them.

IIRC just off the top of my head:

Barbara Ann Scott
Tracy Wilson & Rob McCall
Brian Orser
Kurt Browning
Elvis Stokjo

Plus more…plus some coaches.

Kaetlyn Osmond received the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Prompted by posts in a new thread, I did some searching on the Internet and found examples of how Jean Senft has been whitewashing her record:

Her efforts have been well-documented:

• She exposed Russian judges forming blocs with judges from former Soviet republics, France and Italy.

• She faced a backlash, and a suspension, from the international figure skating community for rocking the boat.

She fought appeals, then further appeals until her suspension was lifted.
As far as I can tell, she served her one-year suspension and never had her record expunged.
“I think I've received this order because of the path I took after those Olympics, where I stood up for the right of athletes to have a level playing field, and went all the way to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland, to prove that judges were cheating and predetermined results.”
That was why you were suspended, wasn't it, Jean, cheating and predetermined results?
She was initially cited for national bias by the International Skating Union, but after she produced a taped phone solicitation from a Ukrainian judge the Court of Arbitration for Sport overturned the citation and suspended the implicated judges.
She was one of the implicated judges whom the CAS suspended!

:wall:

I'd give her a 10.00 for chutzpah, though. :judge:
