ISU Provisional Allotments for 2024-2028

so Tallinn? Or not yet?
It seems to me that confirmation must have fallen through on their TBC site. So, Tallinn isn’t off the table yet. Tallinn, the new de facto “Home of Figure Skating”. It’s so nice of them to step up when needed.

Why isn't the US hosting? Seems like a good opportunity to capitalize on Milan.
Perhaps it'll ultimately be held in the US. Maybe we're all being too pessimistic about this delay in announcing the host. Maybe it's not lack of interest, but too much interest. Hopefully it's taking so long because there's a huge bidding war going on right now to host this event. Perhaps the sport is making a real comeback; one can dream.

Yes, let’s all send positive thoughts into the universe! A good US location—somewhere you’d like to visit anyway!—that is easily accessible via public transportation.

I'm rooting for the DC area. Somewhere that makes it absolutely impossible for Ilia to resist going and winning likely his only 4CCs title, lol.
I'm rooting for Philly, an easy drive for interested DC and NYC residents and a longer but manageable drive for Bostonians, but not quite as costly as those cities can be. I mean, it's still a big east coast city so it's not exactly cheap. Most importantly it's centrally located in the northeast corridor -- it could make for maximal turnout to a lesser championship.

I just tried to find a one night hotel room there to visit a relative and they were almost all $400. Not cheap!

I doubt USFS would choose any city in the Northeast, except Boston (and for 4CC, SCOB would be the likely choice and I hope it's not there... too many logistical difficulties coupled with bad weather potential). The arenas are large (not necessary for 4CC) and everything is expensive. And in Feb, there are weather risks. Even the Southeast is probably out.

Previous 4CCs in the U.S. have been in CO Springs and Anaheim. CO Springs isn't popular with skaters due to altitude, so Anaheim would be a logical choice, or maybe a smaller arena like Allen (Dallas).

I would think Colorado would be a great way to test one's stamina? Anything in the NE would likely be very expensive......I hear Trump is planning to build a huge rink near his place in Florida, or was it neat the WH?, maybe they could hold it at Trump's place?

How about Las Vegas

Eh, SOI went to Agannis Arena in Boston which has a capacity of around 6k - though it's probably booked solid with BU sports events in February. After 2023 with that seriously empty arena, I can't see the USFS going with CO Springs unless there is absolutely no other option in the country.

There are plenty of smaller arenas with capacity under 10k around the country that could work, provided there is a volunteer base within the skating community to assist, which may be the bigger challenge.

Everett, which is going to have its third SA in 18 years, must have a big enough volunteer base. I get that 4C’s is longer and would need more notice to book the space, but Seattle is very accessible from Japan, Vancouver, San Francisco, and LA, with direct flights to SFO and LAX from a lot of Asia/Oceania and flights from Toronto and Montreal to Vancouver.

Similarly, Vancouver.

I'm all for Portland. The Veterans Memorial Coliseum is newly renovated and has a lower seating capacity than the Moda Center. And there's a Hyatt Regency only a couple blocks away from the Rose Quarter & right on the Tri-Met line that runs directly from the airport now, so no need to cross over the river into downtown for the hotel.

Milwaukee :) They did a good job with Skate America years ago. Gosh...was it that long ago? Wow!

We'll just have to kick the Milwaukee Admirals out for a week or so.
I thoroughly enjoyed my couple of days in Milwaukee last May. Cool town!

I think we can all agree (jk that’s never happened) that it’s time for the triumphant return of the jewel of the Northeast… Hartford.
No, please no. Unless you can set us up near Bradley and find a luxury bus to take us to/from.
Seriously, I grew up in Hartford and I find it easier to drive/park in Boston.

That’s wild to me. I drive in Hartford all the time. I avoid driving in Boston like the plague.

I’m not a scared driver but I also avoid driving Boston if I can.

Hartford would be fine by me, but then I doubt I could go anyway.

I think it’s because my brain was wired for downtown before any modern buildings like the civic center. Constitution Plaza and the Boat Building were fairly new when I was learning, that’s how old I am. I can navigate well anywhere southwest of the Busnnell. Downtown, not so much.

Yeah i never liked how he brushed 4CC off as something not important to compete in. Even Nathan went to 4CC and even competed full time while going to Yale so if Nathan could compete going to one of the most prestigious schools in the world Ilia could have made time for 4CC.

Uh... Nathan went to 4CCs once - in 2017 - and won. He didn't even go in 2019 when it was in Anaheim, nor did he go in 2020. Obviously, like in every other Olympic season, he skipped 4CCs in both 2018 and 2022; and there was no 4CCs in 2021, but I'm fairly sure, in the alternate non-pandemic universe where the 2021 4CCs happened, he wouldn't have gone.
