Isabeau Levito Fan Thread!

While I have liked Isabeau’s previous long programs, I do believe they lacked a dramatic ending. This program could show what has been lacking if she sticks with it. A couple of seasons ago she abandoned her Yearning (snake) short program before Nationals because I think she said that choreography was too difficult or something. I thought that’s what I heard, but I could be wrong. Needless to say, I can’t wait to see her new programs in full with costumes. If she goes to Lisa McKinnon again for her costumes, there may be a delay like last season when she didn’t have them ready for Champs Camp or Cranberry Cup, and it wasn’t until Nebelhorn that we got to see both costumes. Also, Lisa McKinnon recently got married and may be on a honeymoon and get a delayed start on this season‘s costumes for Isabeau and many other skaters.

With the snake program, Isabeau was having a hard time fitting in all the choreography and getting in all the levels in the snake program. She and her coach wanted more room in her program. She obviously liked the program, though, as she used it in SOI last season.

I kind of hope that Isabeau doesn't go to Lisa McKinnon for the Pirates costume. I don't think a Pirate costume is really Lisa's forte, and aside from the Breakfast at Tiffany's costume, I haven't really cared much for the costumes Lisa has done for her.

There may not be much rush to get the costumes done. I don't think there's much chance that Isabeau will do Cranberry Cup. She said that she is considering not competing until the GP. After she recovers from her injury, she wants more time to work on the technical side of her skating.

Just got back to the states and watched that in bed with jet lag last night. Came across it randomly.

Her Italian is better than mine. Although I’ve lost it because I never speak it.

Isabeau has posted a clip of herself in front of the Eiffel Tower.

My wishful thinking is that she is going to Peak Ice Camp in Angers and that she has recovered from her injury and has medical clearance to work on her jumps. But, she may just be visiting Stephen. Or just posting a random clip of herself. Peak Ice and Benoit regularly posted photos and videos of her when she was working with them in Italy, so maybe she'll pop up again soon.

I don't know if this means she's recovered from her injury and is jumping again or if she just didn't want to let them down. It's been scheduled for months.

Yes. She can do fundraisers without jumps, just like she did SOI without jumps, though I think they would prefer a singles skater who did do the jumps when it's just one famous skater like the fundraiser or Sun Valley. So, as I said in my previous post, I don't know whether this fundraiser means she is over her injury or if she just didn't want to let them down.

I don't think she was in Paris with Stephen the weekend of Sun Valley and doubt that a Paris rendezvous was the reason she withdrew from Sun Valley. Stephen himself did a show that weekend, and he had posted photos of Paris over a week before Isabeau did (though no photos of her). He and Peak Ice were posting clips of him training in Angers when Isabeau posted the Paris photos. When I saw Isabeau's Paris photos, I said I was hoping that she went back to Europe to train there, despite the fact that she had said that she didn't want to get on a plane again until her first competition. But, I don't think that's really what happened. When Isabeau posts her own photos and videos, it's often weeks later, so who knows when she was in Paris. She could have gone after she was in Italy, before flying home.

I think you're right. When she did that interview in Italy, she did mention she wanted to stay in NJ for a while. She has been so busy since the season ended that I do not begrudge her a well earned vacation.

Still no jumps from Levito? The season starts in two months. Is this injury more serious than her team has let on?

I'm sekretly hoping she's entirely reworking her technique or there's some other explanation. Her skating is even more beautiful without the jumps . She could be a solo dancer.

You said the same thing about secretly working on her jump technique the last time she was injured - and she was completely off the ice and doing no cross-training for three months. At least this time she's not entirely off the ice, though she said she has to be careful to avoid falling.

I don't think there is any way that she would have omitted all the jumps during SOI unless she was really injured. And why go to the trouble of going to Pittsburgh for the fundraiser to omit even the double axel unless there are injury issues? That performance was two weeks ago, so maybe she has started jumping again now. But, she said in June that she might not do any competitions until the Grand Prix and expressed her frustration that the injury is preventing her from working on jumps, so I don't think she has been pretending that the injury is not a problem.

She did seem to enjoy working on some ice dance during the SOI practices, but I don't think she'll ever become a solo ice dancer.

It's posted above, with a link to the Instagram post that has the Isabeau parts, which are quite short and include some of what we've seen before. Most of the complete video posted on youtube is about BENOIT, with the first 15 minutes largely devoted to him discussing his sleeping, eating, coffee, and PT/stretching habits. There actually isn't a lot of video of him choreographing.

However, I do highly recommend the Peak Ice Camp interviews of the individual skaters, posted on the Peak Ice Camp youtube channel, including the Isabeau one. The Z&K and Adam Siao Him Fa ones have been posted, and I think Gogolev and Egadze interviews should be coming soon.

ETAA: Jackie Wong says that Isabeau will be performing her short program at the Summer Sizzler this week.

Lisa McKinnon is doing her competitive costumes, and I doubt either one is ready, but the fashion event did have a little insight about the inspiration for the upcoming costumes. She's not going to have a literal pirate's costume for her long program. (And Isabeau already has said that she told Benoit no when he suggested that she wear pants.) It will be more refined. Strength and drama with a more refined style - "weathered opulence" and "windswept movement."

It looks like the short program will have more of a ballet influence, perhaps Dior.

Here are a couple of interview videos of Isabeau from last night. She said that she was wearing a dress that Amber gave her.

She says that the Pirates costume is still very much under construction and she doesn't know what it will end up looking like. She also says that the choreography for that program is very different from her natural style and that it was challenging and she was trying to expand her horizons.

Also, here are the sketches from the three contestants competing to design Isabeau's exhibition costume. Isabeau said she wanted Barbie pink in the dress. (Since she is a Billie Eilish fan, I wonder if she is going to do her exhibition to "What Was I Made For?")

This SP is growing on me. The different choreographers gives way to a different Isabeau, which is so exciting. Looking forward to Benoit's influence in the free.

From the marked jumps, it looks like she's planning 3Lz+3Lo in the bonus period for her short program.

I wonder if she's doing harder jumps in practice yet? I agree about GP readiness if she's only doing up to double flip right now.
