Is there a Delay between gliding and Positioning your feet when skating? Or is it all done in one stroke?

Say, I was wondering about this. But I was wondering...when skaters skate, is there a delayed stop in between positioning your feet for each element in a skaters program that we don't notice? Or is it all done in one stroke?

The foot is in the right position before the blade touches the ice. There should be no delay or stop, everything should flow smoothly.
