@Louis That is a good list, but it lacks the zeroth item.

0. Agreement on how many immigrants are needed and can be accommodated. Evaluate separate amounts for asylum cases and general immigrants.

A large group of Americans think the answer is zero for all types of immigrants. One of their solution to lack of workers is to turn women into disposable incubators to grow huge numbers of (they hope) white babies by outlawing contraception and abortion and making marital rape legal again. Not only is this solution abhorrent to many, many women: no matter how many women are put on the project, it still takes average 9 months to get a baby, average 18 years to get a basic worker. It does not solve the current lack of workers.

Another group of Americans want to accept only highly educated, English-speaking immigrants. Given the political power of the first group, many immigrants fitting that description have little interest in immigrating to a trending-authoritarian America.

And this strategy does not meet the need for hotel maids, dishwashers, servers, meat processors, construction laborers, casino workers, home health care workers, and other relatively low skill, low pay jobs. These needs are huge here in my area.

The crying need for immigration judges has started to be met.

The article says this is what has been done:

Also, judges have made short work of cases with bad HSA paperwork, cases so old people have died, or gone elsewhere & so forth.

The current administration needs a better, bigger plan, but at least they have made a start.

I am fine with border states shipping immigrants to Connecticut. My neighbor city New London is a sanctuary city, but Florida shipped Texas immigrants to Martha's Vineyard instead. DiSantis & Abbott need and do not have a group of people seeking requests from around the country of how many asylum seekers & immigrants other locations would like, and then coordinating times & places of arrival so our refugee/immigration groups can be there to meet the new arrivals.

DiSantis & Abbott appear to think our citizens are as xenophobic as theirs.

But we say, "Give us your tired, your poor." We need you.
Obviously if you pay almost nothing who is going to want the job unless the pay in a day is more than the pay in a year where you migrated from! So rather than import millions and millions of immigrants how about raising minimum wages!

If the retirement systems will all go broke without millions and millions of more immigrants how about you try to fix the retirement systems so that they don’t go broke without needling human trafficking? Lol

There may be a slate of candidates to be electors for each candidate ready to go, but they're not electors until the votes are in and they are appointed to be electors based on the vote. What makes the alternative Trump electors fake is that they were not appointed in the states that are under legal scrutiny. Biden electors were appointed, but Trump and his seditious cohorts sought to substitute unappointed electors to cast their votes for him instead of the dutifully elected Biden.

In CT and MA, we have raised minimum wage.

CT is now $14.00 an hour

MA is now $14.25

The Post has an article that gives some information on the people who raised their index fingers in the air at the Trump rally:

How a QAnon splinter group became a feature of Trump rallies

The group on the floor was an offshoot of the QAnon community called Negative48, a name that they say stands for the opposite of evil. They’ve become a fixture at Trump’s rallies this year. Numbering about 100, they can be spotted by their lanyards sporting as many as 16 commemorative buttons from each rally they have attended.

The group made headlines last year when members gathered in Dallas expecting to see the resurrection of John F. Kennedy Jr. In January, they decided to start attending every Trump rally in 2022. Protzman, their leader, said he wasn’t available for an interview and declined to set another time to talk. Other members were mysterious about their reasons or goals for coming to Trump rallies.

In other words, they are the nuttiest nuts in the conspiracy theory world.

“Biden is a fraud, he’s an actor,” said a woman in an “I TQLD YOU SO” T-shirt who declined to give her name. “He died in 2019.”
Lisa Pyle, who came to the rally wearing a Q hat, said the Jewish New Year a few days after the rally would be the occasion when the Supreme Court would reveal that it had overturned the 2020 election.

Her husband, Kip, chimed in to explain that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and many other members of Congress had already been arrested.

More than a few commentators thought the photo of Trump with these folks in front of him raising their index fingers looked like a Nazi rally. I think people who saw that in this need to think about whether they are looking for things that aren't there.

Did they check both of his phones? Cassidy said he had 2.
Riggleman is selling a book about the investigation into January 6, but he apparently hasn't been working for the Committee since April and his job focused on data. He doesn't know what they have found since then. That would include information from Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony.

I watched the entire 60 Minutes interview, and they didn't include much discussion of what has been learned since April. But, maybe that's because the investigation isn't complete and Committee members and their investigators and staff aren't supposed to unilaterally be sharing information at this point. (Riggleman's book is unauthorized.)

Schiff, Raskin, and others have said that they have followed up on leads and have greater information and a better understanding of context.

Trump is now actively courting these people. They are now playing "the song" at the close of every rally. This group is becoming part of the main-stream Republican party, as crazy as that may seem. MSNBC did a whole segment on them this morning from the rally he held Friday.

Have you seen the photo? It looked exactly like a Nazi rally. If it walks like a duck....

Perhaps it walks in a way that is quite similar to a duck so people think of a duck. It is not a Nazi salute, but does look similar to one. And it is frightening to see people so zealously salute and adore a man like Trump who wants the kind of power and obedience that Hitler had. (Note: I am not saying that Trump wants to exercise that power to take over other countries or to exterminate millions of people.)

But, it is not a Nazi salute:

Yes I've seen a photo. It looked nothing like a Nazi rally.

And raising one finger in the air does not look like a Heil Hitler. If raising your arm in the air by itself looks like a Nazi salute, then the fist-power salute looks like a Nazi salute. Except it doesn't.

ETA: I disagree that Trump wants power like Hitler. He wants adulation.

And his rallies are not packed halls full of people all making the same salute. This was dozens of people making a weird salute.

IMO, he wants both adulation and power. He has said that he wants generals to do whatever he wants as he perceives Hitler's generals to have done, not just to suck up to him. There have been many reports that Trump would get angry at people who worked for him in the White House when they told him he did not have the power to do something. IMO, his actions show that he sees himself as being above the law. He didn't just pretend that he won the 2020 election; he incited an insurrection to try to overturn an election. And he obviously is willing to appeal to the nuttiest and most dangerous people in the process.

Well I definitely agree with this.

It is not just the finger raising from a small group. It is the absolute and complete worship of Trump of everyone who attends that is the most frightening thing. These people boast about how many Trump rallies they have attended. They wear his image and name all over themselves. It is a cult.

Sort of like Satan worshippers at rock concerts.

I know people who like Trump and somehow don't know anyone who does any of those things.

This is not to claim that there aren't people like this, just that I find it kind of hard to believe that it's EVERYONE who attends. I think you might overestimate just how widespread this sort of Trump adulation is.

That's why I posted the article because it gave information on who particularly these people are. Admittedly I find it hard to believe there are really people who believed John F Kennedy Jr was going to come back to life, but apparently these people are real and out there, but not exactly the mainstream of the Republican Party.

There is enough crazy cultish behavior regarding Trump to make it very concerning without needing to see it as something its not.

Remember when we learned that amongst the classified docs retrieved from Mar-A-Lardo was information abut a foreign country’s nuclear capabilities? Well, today Maggie Haberman learned that out of all TDFG’s dictator friends, he has kept in touch only with the little sh!t from North Korea. I wonder how much KJU knows about what we know about them.

I agree that most Trump admirers are not this extreme and crazy with their conspiracy theories. Unfortunately, though, it takes just a small percentage of the very crazy and adoring to get violent or support violence. QAnon is truly nutty. And you don't have to get to QAnon level of crazy to support violence and hang on Trump's word to get violent. We saw that with some of the insurrectionists.

The Trump supporters I know aren't QAnon, but I definitely know Trump supporters who believe other conspiracies like the various election fraud conspiracies. It's also amazing how many people don't realize that Trump is a compulsive liar.

The Trump supporters I know probably skirt the edge of Q. Or maybe some part into Q.

They definitely believe Clinton and Biden know about a child/sex trafficking pipeline. They believe Fox News since calling Arizona for Biden has been taken over by the left, getting their news from News Max or OAN.

I'm fairly certain she and her husband don't believe that JFK, JR was still alive. Hopefully they don't believe in the 1 finger salute or that stuff - but I unfollewed her once she started posting more and more hateful stuff about LGBTQI.

Yes, but people watch Jordan Klepper (and I will admit that I find it pretty hilarious as well as scary) and think that's the way it.

Jordan Klepper does swear that he doesn't use a lot of selective editing for these videos; it's just that these people are the only ones who will talk to him. Which says something, I suppose.
It's also amazing how many people don't realize that Trump is a compulsive liar.
Yep, I've been told more than once that the reason "everyone" hates Trump is that he tells the unvarnished truth.

But I know a whole lot of other people who really, really don't like Trump at all but will still vote for him if he is the GOP nominee because the DEMOCRATS MUST GO DOWN.

Yeah. A friend of mine is not a Trump fan but voted for him and would vote for him again in a general election just because she is anti-abortion. OTOH, I know a woman who is very much pro-choice but is a Trumpster. She just believes whatever her husband tells her after he watches Fox and listens to right wing radio.

If anyone is interested, on Australian TV Planet America is back on. You can watch on their FB page. They talk about the mid-terms and also immigration. I think if you are interested in the immigration issue this provides a good perspective about it.
