Daveigh Chase was mainly known as a child star in the late 90s/early 00s. I remember her from Donnie Darko and Big Love. She has died of meningitis at the age of 35.

When my brother was around that age he survived a bout of bacterial meningitis. He said it was the worst pain he's ever felt.

This kind of reminds me of Michelle Trachtenberg's death too, it's been a rough year for that group of early aught teen stars.

John Hammond discovered Bruce Springsteen but it was Clive Davis who told him that he made wonderful music but he was much too quiet on stage. That always made me laugh, knowing how animated Bruce became. It was Clive who lit the fire. RIP.

I first became aware of Clive thru American Idol. At first I didn't think he knew much about music because he picked awful songs for some of the singers. I later realized that he apparently did that for singers he didn't like.

I was vaguely aware of who Clive Davis was before American Idol. But I couldn't have picked him out in a police lineup, lol. He definitely became a lot more famous as a result of his years of mentoring the singers. RIP to a music legend.

I remember meeting Robin Szolkowy (when he was still skating with Aliona Savchenko) back in 2011 and he is the same height as me (5'8") and she was absolutely tiny at 4'10".

They competed at a Skate America where I was volunteering doing registrations, and I was astonished not only at how short-ish he (Szolkowy) was, but how tiny, tiny she (Savchenko) was. She looked more muscular than a lot of other Pairs women on the teevee, but when she turned from the registration table to pick up her swag from the swag table across from us, her butt wasn't bigger than my two fists held together side-by-side. And I don't have very big hands.
