Favorite Item From the Donut Shop

Maple bar or the homemade cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting from Early Bird.

I remember being 10 years old and having my first jelly donut and thinking “this is the most fabulous thing ever!” I still love a regular jelly donut and rarely have them as an adult

Blueberry Cake if regular donut shop. My absolute favorite are the mochi donuts from Blackhole Bakery in KC. They have new flavors every month so keep me going back. The tea flavors are my favorite, milk tea, Thai tea, London Fog, Golden milk. Then I also get the pistachio apricot puff for the next day.

A properly fried, slightly greasy, cinnamon sugar old fashioned.

glazed raised ring, always

But I'm fond of the Valley Girl Lemon and Chocolate Bismark from Seattle donut mavens Top Pot

I almost always choose cake over yeast & my fav is either plain or cinnamon cruller. I rarely eat donuts but I love 'em all esp if filled. The only cruller I've ever had that I threw away after 1 bite was from Dunkin' Donuts. It wasn't cake or yeast - it was some funny texture I can't identify.

I am not a fan of donuts as they make me feel like they are sticking to my ribs after eating. I usually choose some interesting filling or glaze like durian or one that seem the least sweetest.

I used to love a bag of warm sugar ring doughnuts at the beach on a windy day!
Gluten free doughnuts are rarely a anything like actual doughnuts unfortunately.

In no particular order:

?? Glazed (Krispy Kreme)
?? The Dub - chocolate ganache with vanilla cream filling (The Rolling Donut)
?? French Cruller (Mister Donut)

Peace Love and Little Donuts: (chain) maple bacon or the heath bar one or the cinnamon sugar one

Meche's Donuts (local donut shop in Lafayette, LA): chocolate frost donut

Happy Morning Donuts (local donut shop in Abita Springs, LA): hear me out, BOUDIN-STUFFED DONUT. DELICIOUS. I know it sounds weird, and I didn't want to try it, but a friend made me try it and I was not sorry. And their donut holes are AMAZING. Their pastry is just :swoon:

Those apple cider donuts that Hepworth Farm makes (or used to) where you had to eat them within 15 seconds of coming out of the fryer :swoon:

My last stop on the way home today was Don’s Donuts in Arcata. I bought their last plain old fashioned and a chocolate twist (they didn’t have any with sprinkles).
