Fall 2024-Summer 2025 New/Returning/Streaming/TV Shows

I recently finished „the Burroughs“, I enjoyed it but found it a bit childish at times (which means it didn’t take its cast of older „heroes“ that seriously). I’m ok with it getting no second season and I think it’s definitely no 2nd Stranger Things.

Now I’m watching an older Thai series „girl from nowhere“ , pretty cool, but also a bit disturbing sometimes.

I was looking forward to season 2 of "Ponies" but I've read that it wasn't renewed. Despite positive reviews, it didn't find enough viewers and has been cancelled. Season one ended with a cliff hanger, so I'm hoping another service will pick it up based on the reviews, but I won't hold my breath.

I still have Guilded Age, and White Lotus to look forward to, and there's another season of American Horror Story coming. AHS is a guilty pleasure.

Can't remember if anyone here was watching Bookish, the post-war British mystery series starring Mark Gatiss, but season 2 is now available and is just as good as the first season.

Loved it!! Thanks for the heads up. Here is a preview for "Below"

There is a documentary called Cruelty for Clicks which is all about the industry that has been built around fake animal rescue videos.

We tried Sterling Point and gave up in the middle of episode 3. Loved the Canadian landscape and the lead actress is great, but we clearly are not the target audience for 90210 Gen Z style.

Yeah, this is why I only support groups I know and sometimes call the vet directly to pay a portion of the bill.

I'm looking forward to the end of the baseball season, and cancelling my Sportsnet subscription until Spring. I'm not interested in hockey at all, and I don't watch enough basketball to justify the expense. Instead, I'll buy a different streaming service every month and binge on the shows/movies, I'm interested in for the month.

I have never watched this show. Is it still popular?

Well, it's still on the air. And it keeps getting renewed. I got kind of invested in it this past season because there was someone from Minnesota in the top 5 (Chris Tungseth). First time in 24 seasons anyone from my home state made it to the top 10. And the guy actually lives within an hour of where I am.

I've heard it said that reality programming is so much cheaper to produce than other programming that it sadly doesn't need to be particularly popular to continue year, after year, after endless year. There is a seemingly endless supply of people who will do anything to be on these shows for little or no recompense and most of the shows also find it easy to replace their paid talent from season to season without missing a beat so no need to increase salaries.

(Can you tell that I'm not a fan of so-called "reality" shows? Most are incredibly ridiculous and they are way too numerous. This genre is so hard to get rid of. I wish they would just fade away.)

Good Luck Max Naumov on Special Forces: World's Toughest Test! :D (filmed back in May? in the jungles of Malaysia)
Season 5 premieres on September 24, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Fox and streams the next day on Hulu. First look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4ZPOFipL2w
Selection for the Special Forces is a test unlike any other. Celebrities from all genres will take on, and try to survive, demanding training exercises led by Directing Staff (DS) agents, an elite team of ex-Special Forces operatives. In this unique series, the only way for these recruits to leave is to give up on their own accord, through failure or potential injury, or by force from the DS. Viewers will see the recruits face the harshest of environments that simulate the highly classified selection process, pushing themselves in the ultimate test of their physical, mental and emotional resilience – revealing the celebrities’ deepest and truest character.

Do we want to start a "Fall 2026-Summer 2027 New/Returning/Streaming/TV Shows" thread when this one hits 1000 posts?

For fans of The Pitt, U.S. Junior skater Rachel Samiri's younger brother Henry, 13, had the recurring role of Harrison "Big Harry" Ashcroft (6 episodes filmed in 2025) - here's a February 2026 article:
Busy young actor! https://www.imdb.com/name/nm10555862/

Omg I never made the connection that he is her little brother! I loved him on The Bold and the Beautiful. He’s been such a great actor from a very young age!

yes, if she is willing I'm sure she will be invited. he already worked with her after glee and his judgment is dubious at best.

Like most such lists, this one was as much fun to argue over and disagree with as anything else. (Although I got some ideas for new series to check out, moreso in the comments than in the actual list.)

Overall I feel like there were too many comedies on the list and, to a lesser extent, documentaries/reality shows.

Re-posting here from Naumov's fan thread:
Max didn’t get even one speaking line in the premiere 😕 The episode was focused mainly on that idiot George Santos.
I think the latter happening was very predictable! :D
Haven't watched yet but hoping to see more of Max on Thursday night!

the swan documentary on Hulu is really taking me back. I am embarrassed to saw I loved watching that with my mom.

I’m watching it right now. The show seemed iffy to me, but good gawd this show was more 😬 than I thought imaginable.

What’s sad is that a lot of these contestants had husbands and children at home. And they couldn’t be with them during the surgery recovery. What if something had gone wrong? 😳

Update - OMG. There was a lingerie portion of the beauty pageant!!?? 😱

The second episode of Lanterns is now out on HBO Max. Well, they know now to make viewers come up with tons of theories about what’s actually going on in Rushville, don’t they? 🍿 🤔

Here are my thoughts: I don’t think there is just one Mindhunter in Rushville. There’s either a bunch of them there or there’s also something else. The whole town is too weird. They need alien detectors for the football games that most of the townspeople attend. The hospital was so sparse. And the sheriff is from Gotham, but somehow ended up in the middle of nowhere Nebraska? 🧐

So……I’ve caught up on Lanterns on HBO Max……and I really hope that the season finale tonight is really great, because I don’t think this is good from a story perspective. It’s like the writers don’t know how superhero stories actually work. The actors (especially Kyle Chandler) are doing a good enough job to keep this watchable, IMHO.
