Fall 2024-Summer 2025 New/Returning/Streaming/TV Shows

Just finished watching "The Vampire Lestat" season finale. Can I just say... Sam Reid deserves ALL The acting awards for this season, even if it was only 7 episodes long. It's like he was possessed by the spirit of Lestat de Lioncourt, I swear. He absolutely embodies the character I first fell in love with more than 40 years ago.

You need to see if you can find The Newsreader - he is great in that as well.

I hadn’t looked at the billing section of my YouTubeTV in awhile, and I wasn’t aware they offer different packages now like just Sports+Entertainment that doesn’t include any news channels. I never watch any of those so I was excited I can save $10/month by changing my package. Local channels are still included.

Just a couple more weeks before my annual, ahem, discussion with Xfinity about pricing. Last time I learned I could get a better deal by doing the on line chat than going to a physical store, especially because the employee who helped me made multiple mistakes. The on line chat person threw several credits at me for the inconvenience. The monthly plan rate was a bit better than the physical store had offered, but for a shorter time. So we'll see... Fios does exist in my neighborhood but I'd really rather not go through the switch.

Is anyone else watching Ride or Die on Prime with Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer? They released all the episodes at once and I've seen the first four so far and it's really good.
The first four episodes are excellent and then IMO it goes COMPLETELY off the rails. It really feels like they were told last minute to add more material to extend the number of episodes.

I feel like Office Romance had potential. Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein were just wrong together. I just didn't buy them as a couple. I also think it should have either been more slapstick and more of an office comedy with a small side of romance OR a straight-up romance with humor, but less slapstick aspects, though to me the slapstick elements actually worked better.

I don't know why I'm a glutton for punishment, but I tuned in for Project Runway 22. I told myself I wasn't going to do it, wasn't going to do it, I HATE Season 21, do not like Heidi Klum II or Law Roach (ok--I might like Law Roach if he was in a similar role to Christian, but Christian remains perfect so that job is taken), and I've never been a fan of Tyra Banks. It bothers me there's no actual designer as a judge. I feel like most of the designers were chosen for bitchiness or conflicts rather than talent. I do like that a former PR model is a current contestant--that's really cool. Since this is now three weeks old, spoilers abouond.

High Looks:
Bryan--just no. I wouldn't have him out, I don't think he should have gone home, but I'd have been in the bottom if there was a bottom 3. I'm with the other contestants who are equally confused
Bobby--I liked it. Agree this should be in the top six.
Elizabeth and Jude--Liked both of them, but they both seem kind of one note?
Chloe--really liked this. If there was a winner of the top six, I'd have picked her.
Andriy--I have no real opinion on this. I think this should have been safe, not top six. I'd have had bat/bird cut out girl up there instead of either Bryan or Andriy. I also liked the older black gentlemen's look. And Naheim's.

So 4/6 I agree with, that's good. I guess. I also though agree with the confusion of the other contestants--there's not a lot of consistency in what the judges picked. I hate that six people have immunity. That's insane.

Low Looks:
Plane Jane--"I wish you had killed the look but didn't" Yes. Maybe I'll change my mind about Law Roach. Christian clearly hated it too.
Robby--HATED this look, and I swear, I've seen six variations of that on Amazon. Again, this is why Christian is perfect--he also knew this was trash.
Glad both of them are out BUT I will say it's very clear they're not designers. Why even add these two when it's clear they weren't going to win or even come close?

Jennifer--I don't think it was as bad as the others but agree that idea has been done before. But it was well done and looked good. Was sorry to see her go, especially as a model. I wonder if Heidi and Tyra were especially harsh because she was a model? That was ROUGH. At least hers was FLATTERING.
Andrea--HATE this. HATE IT. I know Sciriano hated it too. Like, I don't see anything redeemable in this look at all. Totally agree with this being out.
Lre--I liked this. I can't believe this was in the bottom and JosephMcRae was SAFE. I guess though it was maybe a little too much like what they've seen before? Why is she gone and Dani SAFE?!!
Dani--This was just DREADFUL. I'd have kicked this out FIRST and I cannot BELIEVE she was safe. Do they just need a blonde white girl to fill a slot? WHY? Is Bridgerton Goes Punk Sponsored by Temu a look for the fall?
R-Bonney--I liked this. To me, this should have been safe, close to the top. I fee like the same criticism she got could also have been given to Jude.
Jeffery--I...don't even know. HARD NO. That's not even a good costume and it was so unflattering. See, this is why Heidi should be out if she liked that. Why were there no comments about Lumiere? Michael Kors would definitely not have let that slide. I can't believe he's in except that Heidi has no taste besides tight.

And you have to watch the next episode to find out who's out. Not loving this Freeform/Hulu/Disney addition
 I do love the snarky little captions under their names though. That's great.

For the second episode it is so complicated. I smell Heidi.
There are sixteen designers. Six have immunity (so why would these six try?!!), and five are going to be eliminated. One is going to be safe from the judges, and the six who have immunity are going to vote for one to be safe. If the contestants must vote, I'm glad that it's to save one not vote each other out. While I think McRae going home last year was OK--he wasn't going to win--but it shouldn't be the contestants. I wish this show would have taken the high road and become more like Top Chef or British Bake Off where they're competitors, but they are more supportive and helpful than frenemies and its about talent and showing off their product rather than making good television. Talent in and of itself is good television. It might still be on a real channel still if they did that. There's too much emphasis on them being catty to each other and not enough on sketching, Mood, the actual making of the garments. I miss when the designers used to say this is what I'm doing and why, this is my inspiration, etc. I will say this for the contestants: they cast a Ukrainian and a Russian and I'm sure the producers were hoping for fireworks but they are BESTIES. 🇺🇦 🇷🇺 💙

OMFG. They brought back the eliminated six designers to save ONE designer? WTF? Again is this Survivor? I'm so over Plane Jane. They flat out said it would be fun to save the worst one. While the six with immunity flat out said they want to do it fairly, which good for them. I should not type about this while watching

Am I sorry I started watching this? Yes. But am I a TV masochist who will continue to watch? Also yes.

Having always been interested in the tragedy of Pompeii, I was excited about the National Geographic TV series "Pompeii: Out of Time" hosted by Tom Hiddleston, but just watched the first 2 of 3 episodes and... so disappointing. The first episode was especially bad. Unfortunately written "recreations" and a lot of poor CGI abound.

After weeks of speculation from fans, it's officially official. Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Lestat has been renewed for season 4, and we're getting Queen of the Damned next! This Anne Rice superfan is on cloud 9 right now.

‘Interview With the Vampire’ Renewed for Season 4, Titled ‘Queen of the Damned’

P.S. For anyone who is as obsessed with Sam Reid's voice as I am, they have officially released "The Failures" by The Vampire Lestat as a digital album, on all streaming music platforms. It has 23 songs!!!!!!

We just watched The Boroughs on Netflix and really enjoyed it. The show was produced by the same people who did Stranger Things, and the concept is kind of like the first season of Stranger Things, but with retirees instead of teenagers, and set in a retirement community in the Southwest. Great actors. Unfortunately it was canceled after this one season, but definitely worth a watch.

This preview feels so Punk to me. I hope the series lives up to it. It stars Dua Lipa's husband:

Reacher season 4 trailer!

Neagley trailer!

80s television was great! This looks like a cool documentary to watch.

Carrie remake coming to prime

I’ve watched the first two episodes of Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. Goodness, it is silly. But kind of fun. But also really stupid. Fun guest appearances from BBT actors. But OMG, what were they thinking.

I enjoyed the first episode of season 4 of Ted Lasso. I was sad to see he and Michelle are not back together…. But happy at the ending of the episode. This first one was just a bit of nostalgia and setting some of the stage for the rest of the episodes. I’m looking forward to seeing them all “learn to leap before they look,” as the promos say.

New show on Prime called Sterling Point. It seems like a mystery/teen buddy type show and it stars Keen Ruffalo. Son of Mark.

I’m loving this show three episodes in! I had no idea the lead boy was Mark Ruffalo’s son but I definitely see the resemblance now!

We watched Detective Hole, a Scandinavian crime thriller series based on the Harry Hole books by Jo Nesbo. I've read one of the books, and the TV series seems like a pretty faithful adaptation of the overall tone/milieu (not surprising, since the author helped write and produce the series).

Pros--1) Joel Kinnaman is in it, 2) They keep the plot moving crisply, 3) The mystery elements are intriguing.

Cons--1) I didn't get emotionally drawn into the characters, 2) There are some unsettlingly gruesome scenes, 3) The ending twist was a bit weak IMO.

Which are the same pros/cons (except for Kinnaman) of the book I read in this series.

We also started watching the early 2000s version of The Forsyte Saga, but stopped after 2 episodes because we didn't like any of the characters and the production seemed very dated, more like something from the 1970s or early 80s than early 2000s.

I stuck with it until the end, but yeah, very few of the characters had any redeeming qualities and I didn't really care what happened to them.

I am still trying to figure out what I think of the current season of Strange New Worlds.

I fell in love with Shetland and Douglas Henshell, on BritBox. A great moody detective series with spectacular scenery. After my Scotland trip, I’m wistfully wanting to return, so this series is the best I can do.

It’s something like 12 seasons long and I’m up to Season 4. I may abandon it when Doug leaves after Season 7.

This summer Ride or Die with Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer was my absolute go to entertainment. Now, watching Waddingham back on Ted Lasso is killing me because I keep expecting her to be the :kickass: assassin she played on Ride or Die. She really is a comedic genius. I'm really hoping Ride or Die gets a 2nd season.

I am another glutton for punishment. Project Runway 21 was such a hot mess with too many bitchy drag queens and Heidi's boobs and botox I debated whether to watch 22.

I agree with pretty much everything you wrote about it. Law Roach needs to tone down his rude comments. He was all over Joseph about making it the "Joseph show" but then tries to make it the Law Roach show. And stop all that hair flipping. I wish the judging panel would include some actual designers instead of Tyra, Law, and Heidi. Actual critiques as to why a design is good or bad instead of snarky remarks would be good, too.

I miss the days when the show was more about the actual design process instead of the drama with egotistical people with not much talent. I also hate having to wait until the next show to see who's out.

I think the opening music would be an excellent choice for the right skater. A strong skater with the right attitude.
