Euros 2025 - Women FS: ‘It’s All Coming Splat To Me Now’

Send whichever has the higher combined score per their calculation table and hope for a top 10 finish in Boston.

That’s nerve-racking, I love Anna, but I think I would send Lara because she’s more established and I don’t know how Anna straight from juniors will respond at a senior worlds.

Lara got that medal on the Grand Prix circuit and is steadily improving as well. I don’t know. Whoever goes I hope they do well.

It would be nice if they had a translator since probably the only people who will understand this post-competition interview are the Estonians in the arena & watching.

Oh, switched to English now. Thank you.
They re-did the interview in English. So happy she got her moment!

You'd think she'd be thrilled given that this is her SB and it's still good enough for silver. Three Euros medals in a row for her isn't anything to sneer at, yet she looks completely dissatisfied with the outcome.
If she was going to lose to an Estonian skater, it could at least have been a Russian skating for Estonia, not an actual Estonian.

You'd think she'd be thrilled given that this is her SB and it's still good enough for silver. Three Euros medals in a row for her isn't anything to sneer at, yet she looks completely dissatisfied with the outcome.
You'd think other people should not judge skaters being sad or disappointed or even simply in their thoughts right after an obviously quite nervous skate and competition

Also, she seemed pretty happy and smiley afterwards and when she saw Niina and other girls in the green corner

Does Estonia have 2 other senior-level women skaters?
Yes. Euros CTES is 75. Langerbaur, Kiibus, Lisovskaja all currently have that (but their scores came from last season, so they'll need to earn them again). I haven't looked at their current season TES marks to see if they already have it, they may very well be fine for next season.

I mean, Petrokina is Russian-Estonian, but yes, she's not a product of the Russian system like Gubanova is.
I'd say she is Estonian of Russian heritage seeing as she was born & raised in Tallinn. I don't get the impression she identifies as anything other than Estonian, though it's certainly possible she has extended family living in Russia.

What a wonderful ending to the women's event. And, tomorrow is our final day of competition. Here's hoping that the ice dancers and the men really bring it and wind up the Europeans on a high note. I have a feeling they're going to do exactly that. See you all tomorrow.

Y'all I'm in such a high I accidentally gave my on-level students the AP test instead of theirs. It took a good five minutes for a timid and panicked little voice to say Ms Matry...I don't know what any of this stuff is.

Of course I was also a little vexed that they either pay so little attention in my class that they didn't realize I've never gone over a way to write a detailed critique of tax collecting practices and its consequences in the Safavid, Ottoman, and Mughal Empires of the 1700s and/or care so little they weren't going to say anything anyway. (By comparison, their questions are: What is cartography? Why was spice important? Who was Magellan? What was the Dutch East India Company?)
