Euros 2025 - Free Dance: ‘Hey Low!’

Okay, I didn't read the RD thread. I thought that was the main reason behind the switch, my bad, besides potentially getting more assignments. Thanks for the info.
I had the same thing pointed out to me, that's what I meant. I figured 💒 wedding was for that goal too.
Mmmmhmmmm... You do realize that on the GP, CarPon were outscoring LopBri until today, right?

LopBri -
GPF - 195.91
GPdF - 195.27
SCI - 194.25

CarPon -
CoC - 198.18
NHK - 198.9
And even if things pan out with high scores at 4CC, it doesn't mean anything sticks in the sport and it doesn't mean any momentum holds. You watch every last competition. You know this. L/B and C/P weren't in the same competition, either, and we ALL KNOW technical panels can make or break scores.

I'm guessing that before FB/S retired, making the Can 2026 team seemed out of the realm of possibility, so they'd be waiting it out to 2030 either way.

And even if things pan out with high scores at 4CC, it doesn't mean anything sticks in the sport and it doesn't mean any momentum holds. You watch every last competition. You know this. L/B and C/P weren't in the same competition, either, and we ALL KNOW technical panels can make or break scores.
I know all of that, but I also know that these top 3 Euros FDs are underwhelming to say the least. And the result here would have been flipped between LopBri and FearGib if not for the latter's twizzle mistake in the RD. Which means that, once again, this season, they've benefitted from another team's errors to finish higher than expected.

I'm not sure it helps either FearGib or LopBri to be perceived as only beating teams who are higher than them in the ice dance hierarchy when those teams make mistakes.

We'll see what happens, but if you want to tell me not to read much into these results or that momentum won't hold, then at least be honest about how LopBri have been scoring until now & acknowledge that they're not really ahead of CarPon in any appreciable way, regardless of what they scored today.

Sorry, but those who watched today largely disagree. Lop/Bri’s unique style and technical precision are finally being recognized, and while I like Carmen, it’s old hat next to the French FD. Head to head we will see who wins but as long as CarPon are US#2, they’re handicapped. The only #2 team with a chance to medal if the stars align is LaLa and this isn’t their best material.

LopBri's program goes nowhere. It lacks punch and impact, especially at the end.

I'm not talking about chances of making the podium here, I'm talking about top 5-6. I think it's very possible we head into next season with all three of LajLag, LopBri and CarPon ahead of FearGib, but if not, then there's nothing about these results that lead me to believe LopBri have an appreciable advantage over CarPon heading into Worlds.

I'd rather see Fai Rumore.

But we'll get Maneskin I Wanna Be Your Dog cover.
Fai Rumore, si.

Also someone needs to skate to Soldi. Though not G/F.

ETA: do I now have Soldi stuck in my head? Yes, yes I do.

Lop/Bri’s unique style and technical precision are finally being recognized
OMG we are in agreement!

Surprised to see a "Cypriot" couple. Of course they are Russians. And they probably don't train in Cyprus much.

We were in Cyprus several years ago and all the real estate signs are in Russian. Good place to buy property and get EU entry.

They've been Cypriots for several years. They moved from Russia to Italy for training after the start of the Ukraine war. I'm pretty sure her parents actually live in Cyprus - she routinely posts on her IG pics of her visits to her family there when she isn't in Italy training.

I'm pretty sure they do. Cyprus is full of rich Russians. I'm from there.

We hardly have a rink to train in! I'm sure the Cypriot federation was thrilled to have them, seeing as there is no possibility for any Cypriots to train on the island.

T/V win PCS by .02 but it should've been more honestly. Small victory, I guess.
Was going to write the same thing. There should have been a larger PCS gap in favour of Turkkila/Versluis. I still like Fear/Gibson and enjoy watching them, but they need to find a way to re-capture the excitement of when they first burst onto the scene, particularly given they have made some technical progress. The Finns should have been ahead of them today. I want them to do well, but they're never going to be the second coming of Torvill & Dean.

As for Guignard/Fabbri, they deserved the win and were clearly the best here, but that program should have stayed as an exhibition.

ETA: Smart/Dieck hve my favourite program of the season by a long way. I agree with whoever said they should keep it next year.
He knows about balance points... because that's the number one thing he mentions for every team.
Actually he should know about balance points as he used to coach pairs (perhaps still does?).

You told me the same thing when I said that LopBri were clear for the bronze and fighting for silver at Euros.

I know that you are going to claim that what I said literally happening somehow still means I was wrong, so you can just skip the pretzel logic.

I get that you think randomly comparing scores across competitions is a trump card, but it’s not working.

🤷‍♀️ At best, LopBri are replacing FearGib as the top Euro team after GuigFab. And without either a French or British judge on the panel at Worlds, both are severely disadvantaged from holding off LajLag (in the case of FearGib dropping to 5th at Worlds) and CarPon (in moving up to 6th ahead of LopBri).
