I'm so past excuses at this point. This is people's lives we're talking about and if Redfield and Hahn haven't figured out yet that Trump could give a damn about anyone but himself and that he's using them to further his own interests and only his own interests then they should resign anyway.I think "being forced to" is a more accurate description than "allowing".
Just ask Alexander Vindman, who has said that he'd do it again if he had to.And there is a risk of losing their jobs if they don't.
CDC has the stooges that Trump appointed to toe the party line, but it also has lots of dedicated employees that respect science and good public health practices, and are just as upset about what's happening as anyone else. Don't paint everyone at CDC with the same brush.I'm so past excuses at this point. This is people's lives we're talking about and if Redfield and Hahn haven't figured out yet that Trump could give a damn about anyone but himself and that he's using them to further his own interests and only his own interests then they should resign anyway.
Once the investigative journalists start following the money trail it will probably turn up plenty more disgusting corruption. This is breaking BIG. And it is disgusting. This is one of those stories that I hope the nurse was out of her mind and it is false. But given this administration...I think not.
It seems he didn't help his case with "undecided" voters; more lies and talking out of both sides of his mouth!
that needs to be cross posted in the anti-semitism thread. Here's another danger of a Trump Presidency: ignorant, malleable young people who might go along with fascism:
According to survey of adults 18-39, 23% said they believed the Holocaust was a myth, had been exaggerated or they weren’t surewww.theguardian.com
This, by the way, is one reason that we need to invest more in History education.
Hi I'm Donald Trump and after three and half years in the office of the presidency, I still have no idea what the president does, how the government works, who the Democrats are or much of anything else, but I do know my supporters will vote for me anyway!trump answer on masks (which doesn't make sense as usual) - “Well, I do wear them when I have to and when I’m in hospitals and other locations,” Trump said. “But I will say this. They said at the Democrat convention they’re going to do a national mandate. They never did it, because they’ve checked out and they didn’t do it. And a good question is, you ask why Joe Biden ― they said we’re going to do a national mandate on masks.”
Rightwingers are supposedly afraid if the Democrats win we will have communism/socialism/marxism. Except they have no idea what totalitarian left societies were like.A controversial researcher who rejects climate science was hired by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for a senior position, in a move suggesting the Trump administration is asserting growing influence over the study of rising temperatures.
David Legates, a geography professor at the University of Delaware, has a long history of questioning fundamental climate science and has suggested that an outcome of burning fossil fuels would be a more habitable planet for humans.
He was hired as deputy assistant secretary of Commerce for observation and prediction, according to a report by NPR.
The move marks an escalation within the Trump administration to undermine the agency's ability to warn the public of climate risks, observers said.
Okay granted there is a Bay of Pigs veterans association that endorsed Trump in 2016, but in US History terms if one received a Bay of Pigs Award, it would not be an honor, given that the Bay of Pigs operation was a failure and a fiasco.TRUMP: “Remember, Miami Cubans gave me the highly honored Bay of Pigs Award for all I have done for our great Cuban Population!” — tweet Sunday.
THE FACTS: No such award exists.
It is more apt than a “Noble” Prize.Okay granted there is a Bay of Pigs veterans association that endorsed Trump in 2016, but in US History terms if one received a Bay of Pigs Award, it would not be an honor, given that the Bay of Pigs operation was a failure and a fiasco.
jerkSpeaking of Antisemitism:
On a Rosh Hashanah White House (not campaign) call, Trump calls on Jews to vote for him because he says Democrats will be ruinous for Israel, signs off, "we love your country."
This "dual loyalty" crap makes me want to scream.
Because he doesn't care about anyone but himself. Simple explanation.Um so I actually watched the town hall today. Or clips of it. (I was watching the Clippers' meltdown last night.) Was absolutely horrified when a woman spoke of her mother dying of cancer and Trump instead talked about how great his admin did in C19. He just doesn't have the ability to listen to anyone but himself.
More on the QAnon orbit and its seepage into the Republican mainstream in this article from the Guardian:That article links to this one in the NY Times which reports the Texas Republican party adopting the QAnon-inspired slogan "We are the Storm" which also has echoes of Nazism.
As the president all but endorses the internet-driven conspiracy theory, it is shifting from the fringes of the internet to become an offline political movement.www.nytimes.com
I've been wondering how many people really follow QAnon or whether its been blown out of proportion by news media looking for a story. But the articles about people being sucked into it because it purports to be about child sex trafficking and "saving the children" are concerning because they indicate that it is reaching beyond far right circles and perhaps could fuse with other similar concerns such as this Netflix should testify before Congress over Cuties? The culture war is out of control
While “classic” QAnon memes and content are aggressively pro-Trump, militaristic and often include blatantly antisemitic tropes and references, #SaveOurChildren has provided QAnon with a decidedly softer aesthetic and rhetorical appeal.
Rather than enticing new recruits with the promise to unveil military intelligence secrets about the supposed evils of the Clintons and Obamas, #SaveOurChildren captures attention with exaggerated statistics about the prevalence of child sex trafficking, then draws susceptible readers down the rabbit hole of increasingly implausible falsehoods. It’s a softer, gentler “red pill” than traditional QAnon material, but the result – blatantly false beliefs about Democrats sexually abusing children in order to extract a life-extending chemical from their blood – remains the same.
The #SaveOurChildren version of QAnon has been particularly popular among a new coalition of anti-public-health activists who have been galvanized by the ******** *********. As the Guardian reported in June, Facebook’s recommendation algorithm helped facilitate cross-pollination between Facebook groups dedicated to anti-vaccine activism, anti-******** lockdowns and QAnon. (In Europe, it appears that a similar synergy occurred among anti-5G activists.) Membership in QAnon Facebook groups exploded throughout the summer, and QAnon infiltrated many online subcultures, including those formed around evangelical Christianity, New Age spiritualism and alternative medicine or “wellness”.
