Dangers of a Trump Presidency--Part 7

Trump campaign asked the BOK arena to remove social distancing stickers because Trump didn't want to see any empty seats.

Trump had wanted every seat packed, and he told advisers coming in on Air Force One and at the arena he was displeased that the crowd was not larger, said two Trump advisers, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity to relay private conversations.
“He was quite angry,” said one person who interacted with him.
Trump had told Gov. Roy Cooper during a May 29 phone call that he would not hold a socially-distanced convention in Charlotte because he had never had an empty seat since he came down the escalator at the start of his presidential campaign in 2015.

It’s amazing how many people are working for trump with the express purpose of telling the press what goes on and leaking to the press to help Biden and elect Biden. These two advisers are amazing

"Today’s News: 125+K dead of *********; Putin paid bounties for dead US soldiers; Trump “forgoes” trip to his NJ golf club, so he can ensure “LAW & ORDER is enforced,” but then heads to his Virginia golf club...his 271st golf outing & 363rd Trump property visit during his presidency." :wall:

There have been questions about his use of music since 2016 and the article posted by Susan1 gives the clearest explanation about it in these two paragraphs:
“BMI’s Political Entities License was implemented about ten years ago to cover political campaigns,” Thomas says. “Since many political events and rallies are often held at places that don’t typically require a music license, such as airport hangars or community fields, a Political Entities License ensures that wherever the campaign stops, it is in compliance with copyright law. A venue license was never intended to cover political campaigns. So if a campaign attempts to rely on a venue license to cover its music use, there’s risk involved.”
In a statement released earlier to Variety and Deadline, BMI said: “The Trump campaign has a Political Entities License which authorizes the public performance of more than 15 million musical works in BMI’s repertoire wherever campaign events occur. There is a provision, however, that allows BMI to exclude musical works from the license if a songwriter or publisher objects to its use by a campaign. BMI has received such an objection and sent a letter notifying the Trump campaign that the Rolling Stones’ works have been removed from the campaign license, and advising the campaign that any future use of these musical compositions will be in breach of its license agreement with BMI.”
The biggest problem with this is by the time they sue, or whatever the next step is, the election will be over. They may get damages but it won't stop the Trump campaign from doing whatever they want until then.

There is an interesting influx of articles suggesting Trump knows he’s losing based on his latest comments and question whether he should stay in. I think the consensus (I’ve seen it mentioned twice, not sure if it was from the same source) is that he drops to 35% or so, which is a real possibility in the coming weeks especially with the CV numbers going up and areas likely to shut down again, then he REALLY needs to consider dropping out.

If his team isn’t already trying to rewrite some of the wrongs and especially change his tone on the lack of empathy for the major social issues happening in this country, I don’t see how he or they expect anything to get any better. Unless he really thinks that he’s going to destroy Biden in the debates and make everyone somehow change their minds in the month leading up to the election.

@caseyedwards I have to give credit where credit is due, and I know you’ve been ranting about this for a while now. Seems other people are starting to panic about that possibility, too.

This is probably where the send-everybody-another-check discussion comes in.
Of course he’s already teasing how ‘generous’ he thinks it’s going to be, but I’d imagine it’s coming relatively soon and it’ll give him enough time to see that it in itself doesn’t do anything to sway people. I mean I sure hope it doesn’t rather than them just taking the money and keeping on.

Yep, from 2016 - (Elton John IS on the list)
I can't get to the current Business Insider article (never can) because I won't disable my ad blocker.
Here's another one, about previous presidential campaigns too (only one democrat).

And note that the WH says POTUS and VPOTUS weren't briefed. They don't deny the substance of the story. And that/if POTUS and VPOTUS weren't briefed doesn't make it any better.
Natasha Bertrand on Headline News this morning wondered if he had been briefed, but it was in writing so he may not have read it.

That's what a restraining order is for.. I would assume that the copyright holders send out cease-and-desist letters first and file petitions if the campaign does not comply.

He doesn't read or care about the presidential daily briefings.

You can’t trust info from torture. Afghanistan Government tortures captured taliban and they say Russia paid me to do this and then Afghanistan tells American generals there they heard this and then the American generals tell intelligence Officials and then that info is put in PDB. So no matter which way you look at it this is people in trump administration leaking this because they want to elect Biden president

So Trump retweeted a video of his supporters yelling "White power!"
And then deleted the tweet - the White House says that the President didn't hear white power words, and was responding to the 'enthusiasm' of the supporter. The racist bullhorns are so loud these days.

Once again just giving ‘subtle’ hints to his racist and discriminatory fan base that he’s still very much with them.

It's been removed now, after it was claimed that Trump didn't hear the "white power" shout, but just saw the pro-Trump signs. Guess it's possible since Trump has never been known for close attention to many things.
ETA: I see this has already been noted.

He also said in the Tweet: “Corrupt Joe [Biden] is shot. See you soon!!!"

I’ve heard of brakes being shot or “my knee is shot” but never an entire person. Definitely some coded messaging.

He is relying on his base being the silent majority and carrying him to a win.

Honestly, do we still trust polling after 2016?

You can’t trust it 100% but there are some states where it’s really not even close anymore, at least at this point. If Trump doesn’t do something huge, the numbers are likely to grow further apart.

And really, in 2016 Hillary needed a combination of three different states to go her way, and everyone knew those swing states would be close contests. This time around, Biden would have to lose most of AZ, PA, OH, MI, WI, GA, FL, and even TX which is becoming an interesting race.

It makes it worse.

Think about if you were President. Something horrible like this comes out and you weren't briefed on it. What do you do? You immediately call for an investigation. Heads rolls. You immediately impose sanctions on Russia (or something similar). You give at least one speech about how Russia must pay and at least one on how this was a serious breach of procedure that you weren't briefed and how you will do X, Y, and Z so that it never happens again.

And the VP would also be doing this sort of thing to a lesser extent or at least standing by you for all the announcements and speeches.

You don't ignore the reports expect to deny you knew about it and then go ... golfing. (Or whatever Pence did)

IMO the response proves it's true that they were briefed and it also proves it's true that they don't give a shit about US soldiers and love Russia more than the US.

Unless Trump chokes on a Big Mac and dies, he not going anywhere unless he's defeated in November. He's a narcissist and a sociopath. He's going to do anything in his power to make sure he's re-elected. This could include more checks, more tax cuts, a snake oil magical cure for CV, race-baiting, back deals with China and Russia, the lists goes on. The Republican leadership knows that he is unfit but they are in too deep to turn their backs on him now. I hope I'm wrong.

Now that he knows about Russia's bounty, it will be telling on how he responds. Is he still going to advocate Russia be reinstated back to the G7, will he still pull out troops from Germany, will he increase sanctions against Russia?

I agree that he knew and he was briefed. Yet he had several calls with his man crush Putin and then advocates for Russia to be reinstated to the G7 and is pulling troops from Germany. WTF?

He's a traitor.

Also, he's a loser who cuts and runs when he loses. He's done this over and over and the past 3+ years have shown us that he isn't changing and is probably incapable of changing. So it's a matter of what this looks like in terms of a Presidency vs. a casino business. I don't know the answer to that. But I don't think, once he's decided being President is a losing proposition, that he'll do anything in his power to win. Past history suggests he'll do anything in his power to cut and run with the least damage to himself as possible.

This is complicated by the fact that being President seems to be keeping him from being arrested in NY (at a minimum). Though I'm sure he was in danger of being charged with fraud in the past so maybe it's not so different from past losing endevours.

How do you know it was from torture? European intelligence has also confirmed the Russian bounties.

People in the Trump Administration leak information for all sorts of reasons, like rivalry.

And I believe in his mind that the least amount of damage would be for him to be re-elected.

This is complicated by the fact that being President seems to be keeping him from being arrested in NY (at a minimum). Though I'm sure he was in danger of being charged with fraud in the past so maybe it's not so different from past losing endevours.
He would need to be re-elected which will give Barr 4 more years to do something dirty and make it go away.

After 2016 I am cautious about the polls. But if you look at Real Clear Politics, it is not just Trump but other Republicans in battleground states that are behind as well. There is a definite trend, including the polls that are usually pro-Trump.

People need to get out and vote. Although I think the motivation to get rid of Trump amongst voters is stronger than his minority of supporters.
