“Producers are gobsmacked because they usually know exactly who will come out on top, like they did Robert [Irwin] with last season,” the source said.
“But as of week two, they’ve gotten everything totally wrong.”
The source claimed Savannah Bananas star Jackson Olson and actress Jenna Dewan were among the contestants producers had the highest hopes for heading into the season.
But so far, the pair have allegedly failed to live up to those expectations.

Instead, the insider explained the DWTS production team have been caught off guard by two contestants who weren’t necessarily viewed as the obvious stars to beat from the get go.
Maura Higgins has emerged as the season’s surprise contender, according to the source, while Paralympic sensation Ezra Frech has also exceeded expectations in the ballroom.

Plus there is the assumption production made that Guillermo would be out early, so it would be manageable for Whitney to be his pro partner while pregnant. But despite getting the worst scores and being the worst dancer, Guillermo is a fan favorite pulling the highest view counts online. I have a feeling Guillermo will be an Andy Richter 2.0 from last season and go very far over other more deserving celebs thanks to the fan vote. I can see him making the semi finals (really hope not the finals).

Viewers might also be watching to see the pros. For example, Jenna D was terrible in her dance with Val, and her costume was so medium brown that it barely registered. Val stole the stage with his impressive and powerful dancing, his white jacket open to bare his chest, glistening with sweat. His hair -- longer than last season -- whipped and tossed with every step. Erm. Ahem.

Um, Guillermo was pretty good this week. Maybe people are also interested in pregnant Whitney?
 
I think Witney has said they have had a backup dancer ready to fill in for her from the start, maybe not thinking that she would last more than 1-2 weeks, but in case she had to withdraw for health reasons also. Not sure where I saw that as it might have been on one of the entertainment shows when they just do those quick stand-up question/interview type things.

I will not be shocked if both Tyler and Connor get eliminated next before Guillermo does. And maybe even Ciara and Jackson. But thems the breaks. It's a fan voted show and fans are voting in droves for Guillermo because of his personality, his joy, and clearly he is really trying hard and putting in the effort to learn the dance moves. He's like the 'every man'. If a normal 55 year old man that had Guillermo's physique walked into one of those "Learn to Dance" ballroom studios to take lessons to learn how to dance, this is him. That's why people are voting for him. That's why I'm giving him votes. I was not surprised to see Taylor/Britt go last week. He had ZERO personality compared to Guillermo, and that's why I think he beats out both Connor and Tyler as well.
 
Amber seemed more nervous this week understandably than the last 2 weeks, but she should feel confident and proud! I think Carrie Ann was too harsh with the 7 considering what scores were given to others, but last week and the week prior seemed better dances for Amber. Though this one had tons of gorgeous highlights pushing it to the limit as Bruno said.

Unlike others, I have no interest whatsoever in Guillermo. He needs to be eliminated stat and stop making it week over week over stronger dancers and performances. But alas, that is preaching to the choir, he’s gonna be around for weeks to come I expect.

I love so many of these people - haven't watched in years but tuned in for Amber. Love Amber and Ezra and Jenna and Maura and Guillermo - judges were harsh last night with the 4's I think they were hoping to send him home. Loved Maura's reaction to her 9 she seems so genuinely shocked that she is a very good dancer - love it when there's a surprise talent like this. Hard to know who I want to win at this point but i will try to stay on team Amber for as long as I can!
