Dancing with the Stars - Season 35

It’s actually got quite good, I liked it much better the past two years. FYI both Houghs are on it as Judge and host and they are also good.
Yeah, I started watching again when they gave Tyra the boot (the show became almost unrecognizable under her tenure, IMO). Alfonso and Julianne are a great hosting duo. Derek joining as a judge was also a good move, to counter some of the OTT-ness of Bruno and Carrie Ann ... though I still miss Len (RIP).

Next week all the women celebrities will compete one night and all the men the other night. And one of each will be eliminated

I hate seeing contestants getting the boot on the first night, let alone two. My favourite part of the show is seeing people improve every week to eventually give a breakout performance.

Anyone watch the competition for a new pro? I briefly saw that Mark was a judge there but I couldn't access the eps.

Agree!! And that's the problem of having 16 friggin' contestants on a show that is only going to be on for about 10-11 weeks max. They need to cap the cast at no more than 12-13 total like back in the OG days, and only Top 3 make it to "the Finals", not Top 5-6, which negates it from being an actual "Finals".
I hate the new format.

I watched the Next Pro show and ... just my opinion but it was a big snooze fest for me. They spent more time on creating drama among the cast and showing them sitting around the house just talking then they did showing them in rehearsals and learning the dances. You really didn't miss much. Just watch the clips of them dancing in their costumes and skip all the other stuff.

Like I watch the actual show… watch the package and the dance, fast forward until it’s Derek’s turn, fast forward until the scores flash on the screen, repeat. I can watch the entire episode in about 30 minutes.

Same. I don't have live TV, so I watched the show the next day on Disney Plus, skipping over all the behind the scenes drama to focus on the rehearsals/live performances. It was more enjoyable that way, and also saved some time, lol.

I am really trying to watch for Amber but this show. I think there’s something wrong with Bruno the judge. He kinda gives off don’t check his internet history vibes.

And that Mormon Lives guy could have been German #2 ice dance at Euros circa 2004
:scream:

ETA: OMG he’s a MAGICIAN. That’s why he’s giving ladies cover your drinks (I have a visceral hatred of magicians. I knew there was something wrong with him)

wow they have an after party show! is this necessary? I've already gone straight to hate watching so I can properly wuz rob amber.

this little man with Witney from SYTYCD ( I am hell bent on aging myself) was less creepy and weird than mormon dad magician

That looked like a fun father-daughter dance at the drunk stage of the wedding reception. Much preferred to Mormon Magician

I was watching some you tube video predicting the winner and they were like no one knows who Tatyana Ali but she's one of the only people I know.

I wonder if the pros have to have their partners explained to them ahead of time so they can act excited.

I woke up one day and everyone was named Ezra
he's likable. I really hope his leg doesnt pop off.
they keep panning to people who I guess are on abc shows in the audience and I have no idea. this is how my nana must have felt watching tv.

According to an April 2026 report from Parade, celebrity contestants are paid an upfront salary of $125,000. This reportedly covers the rehearsal period and their first two weeks on air.
In addition to the base pay, contestants can earn significant bonuses by advancing through the competition. Parade revealed, “For stars who make it to weeks three and four, there is an added bonus of $10,000 per week. If they make it to week five, the additional pay is $15,000.”
They continued, “Weeks six and seven add $20,000 per week, and then weeks eight and nine see $30,000 deposited in their bank account. And if they are lucky enough to make the semi-finals and the finale, there is an additional $50,000 prize money each week, plus the winner gets the Mirror Ball trophy.”

I'm entertained by Coach Jackie J and her "brutally honest review" :D of DWTS 35 night 1 (she's a huge fan of Amber's and Amber follows her):

Figured out CityTV no longer offers the option to stream the eps next day in Canada and a 2-month Disney+ subscription doesn't appeal at all so it's watch it like in prehistoric times or miss everything. Sigh.

Happy I only missed the men so I can at least see Amber.

(My main motivation is that my dad watches it religiously and it gives us something fun to discuss.)
