looks like Ruiyang Zhang's free skate is selections from Phantom of the Opera from watching it

apparently this was her first time backloading the combo in SP and it came off well

short was completely clean with all level 4's; 2 rotation calls in free but otherwise good still all level 4's

compared to her Interclub results last year (186.68 and 188.67) this is a humongous score, lots of improvement

I remember one of them, not sure which, had to have a surgery which took them out of the rest of last season. They don't appear on any JGP rosters currently released, and haven't done any summer club events.

I thought they were a sweet and talented team, and I hope they are wisely just taking their time coming back to form.

They did actually compete at one of the Chinese league competitions at the end of July (stage 3), but withdrew from their scheduled JGP events after that competition - rumour is that she is injured but nothing concrete afaik.

XI'AN, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- China's Liu Yuxuan won silver, Jin Shuxian took bronze and Jin Chenxi finished fourth in the junior women's event as the ISU Figure Skating Junior Grand Prix Xi'an 2026 continued on Friday. [...]
Liu, making her international debut, finished second with 189.57 despite a fall on her triple Lutz in the free skate, while Jin Shuxian climbed from eighth after the short program to third with 188.80. Jin Chenxi placed fourth with 183.94, giving China three skaters in the top four.
13-year-old Liu said she was pleased with her performance despite a mistake in the free skate and would continue to refine her footwork and overall program.

China's Chen [Yuxuan] and Dong [Yinbo] finished second with 157.52 points, while compatriots Wang [Chenling] and Chen [Yongzheng] took third with 134.50 points.
Chen Yuxuan said the pair was satisfied with their performance. "The triple throw was completed as we expected, but we still need to improve its quality," she said. [...]
China's Lu Boren, 18, placed ninth [men's event] with 194.08 points, followed by 14-year-old Li Zhuolang in 10th with 189.13 points and 15-year-old Xu Minghan in 12th with 179.05 points.
