Brassuer/Bardei

3Twist is a wow
sbs 3T+2T, he two foot and under on the 3T, no 2T
sbs 3S (quick step off for him)
3Z throw, deep squat and a step
3S throw landed, foot brushed the ice
2nd lift didn't go up
3rd lift looked off at the end

The potential is there. Excited to see them develop. Music was that piece Joannie Rochette used for her 2003 and 2004 LP. Forget the name now.

I think it was the Legend of 1800? Shame about the ending lifts but definitely enjoyed them.

Well certainly enjoyed the powerful, dramatic FD of Lajoie/Lagha much more than their SD... I can't wait to see how it develops over the season, but this could become a remarkable signature FD for them - huge potential IMO. Gorgeous FD dress also...

Final group of ladies is on the ice now.

Kim Decelles and Sarah Tamura both skated to music from Miss Saigon (did I hear that right? They skated back to back).

Kim landed her opening triple lutz (probably UR) and I think she only landed one other triple (the salchow) but I could be wrong. She scored 87.something. She seemed happy to be back. I would love to see Skate Canada give her a chance for an international but we'll see.

Tamura landed her triple lutz combo to open but fell a few times and she had a horrible lean on all the jumps she fell on so there was no way she was going to land it. She showed so much promise her first couple of years on the JGP but she is just not progressing at all. It's sad to watch.

Yes.

ETA: So happy Veronik Mallet is back - I've missed her lovely skating. :) She was supposed to skate to Adele's "Turning Tables" last season and I'm glad I finally got to see her program! She landed everything excerpt for doubling a Salchow early.

Mallet's program to Adele "Turning Tables" is beautiful. She landed two beautiful triple loops and two triple toes (both with one in combo) and her double axel is as nice as ever. She doubled out on a salchow early in the program (that was never a good jump for her). Wow what a nice comeback for her!

When Kelsey Wong's music started I recognized the choral hymn as being from The Sound of Music film and most of her program turned out to be an orchestral version of "Climb Every Mountain" that I've never heard before.

Wong had a decent skate too. She had one splat on the triple loop (very UR) but landed a triple lutz, triple flip double toe and did a double axel 1/2 loop triple salchow late in the program - a few of her jumps look UR so we'll see.

Too bad Emy couldn't live up to the short program. Opening double axel triple toe looked really good.
Yes. She kept her FS music from last season (I remembered the "Good King Wencelas" melody).

Fournier Beaudry/Sorensen are skating their FD next (Soucisse/Firus are listed as WD from FD). ETA that FB/S kept their FD music that they competed through 2018 Euros:
Spanish Caravan by The Doors
Hush performed by by Marcin Patrzalek
Asturias performed by Marcin Patrzalek

They scored 114.

Thoughts:

Fournier-Beaudry & Sorenson. Well, since kept their FD, of course they look really incredible with it for this point in the season. Skated it well. Twizzles look good today. Slow motion whip around entry into one of the lifts is cool (Maybe new? I don't know the old program well enough to say for sure). Great score 114.11

I guess since they didn't skate it at Worlds last season & they aren't going to have a regular season--with no Challengers or GPs--this year, I can see why they elected to keep the old FD. Though, for the record, I still don't like to see the repetition trend happen in dance.

Lauriault & Le Gac. Medley of modern/popular music. (Treasure, Talking to the Moon, Uptown Funk). It's youthful, and I do think they are moving to this style better than last year. New lift: love the first 3 quarters of it and could do without the Kazakova exit. Obviously, program looks much more in the developing stages. Will need a lot of polishing & sharpening, especially to the last piece before season's end, but potential. 103.68

Marinaro looks really strong for the start of the season Kristin needs a bit more work, but I really like the program. Mallet looks fantastic an I love the Program, I think she will be Canada #2 behind Gaby with Osmond not competing. I see the potential with Brasseur/Bardei too bad they are not junior as he especially needs some more work. Alaine? Not quite back on track yet.

A shame SC did not keep the host spot TBA until after this event.
Here is open Mallet can get to Challenger events!

Should be interesting to see how many of the top 8 senior ladies here will get to do Autumn Classic at least.

They really should have left two spots TBA and made the top ladies skate for it this summer.

Hm, going to GP with 2x 3lo and 2x3t? :shuffle:
Mallet had her chances (though it's nice to see her back) but I prefer the decision for Chartrand/Austman way more, as (despite this result) they could at least be comeptitive with their content.

mallets spins and jumps are soon much higher quality than alaines right now though. look at that field and tell me any of them are finishing higher than 10th....but mallet with another jump could compete...

Music B/B and Rochette used is Il etait un fois.. le diable which was Angels Dubeau’s take on the music from Once Upon a Time in the West by Morricone.
