I thought they were going to avoid schools? Haven’t followed the news. I will advance vote the first day of the election. I did that for the provincial election. Its close to me home and there were no people, just officials. They will be required to be vaccinated, right?

I just got a call about working the election, and yes, no schools are being used. Elections workers are not required to be vaccinated, but we do have to wear masks all day regardless of vaccination status. I expect we’ll also have plexiglass shields like we did for the provincial election as well.

All this bemoaning the lack of a real PC party is tiresome. Conservative voters have the party they want. If they wanted even a Brian Mulroney back, it would happen, but they do not. They're as cruel as their US Republican-voting counterparts. There's not one single current conservative politician in this entire country who is worth their salt, and I say that living in MPP Christine Elliott's riding. She's such a disappointment. All we can hope is that Bernier's crazypants party continues to split the vote from the CPC, but we know conservatives care more about power and winning than actual the governing of Canada. They'll no doubt find a way to keep the ignorant far-right happy and maintain the status quo. And we'll forever be trying to keep that level of insane governance at bay in every election, while the centre/left vote remains split.

None of the current parties server Canadians. None of them. Don't @ me about the NDP - they've been the cult of personality since Jack Layton with little substance because they KNOW they'll never get in power. It's a privileged position they get to take as antagonists, tbh. If my riding isn't close, I don't plan to vote for any of the top 4 parties. I'd not vote at all if my ethics could stand it.

I come back to the words from a financial advisor who spoke to a local women's group ahead of the 2019 election: "None of them will ever balance the budget. They all lie about it. It's pointless to consider voting based on fiscal responsibility, because none of them have it. Vote for who will spend according to your values."

And a big ol' yikes to anyone voting along conservative values in this day in age, after they've continually shown us who they are.

Not true, incompetent governance based on populist rhetoric, not practicalities is "something". It's not something I'd ever vote for, but it you can't say they have "nothing".

I'm disappointed in all the party leaders, they just don't instill any confidence in me. My riding is Conservative strong, as we have amazing leadership there. But if I had to choose between O'Toole and Trudeau, I would go Trudeau because at least I know what to expect with him.

Trudeau has really managed the whole ********* fight brilliantly. We always had good supplies of PPE. Testing ramped up quickly and well, and the public was kept well informed. But most of all, it's embarrassing how much vaccine we have. We're swimming in it. God bless everyone who has gotten us to herd immunity, in most places, so quickly, and with so little fuss.

But Trudeau keeps tripping over ethics issues that a first year high school student would know better than to do.

Note to Conservatives: If all you can do is tear the other guy down, it doesn't say much for your platform. I want to know why I should vote for YOU, not why I shouldn't vote for Trudeau. The guy you ran last time defrauded your party of nearly $1 million, which doesn't say much for your ability to pick a good Prime Minister for Canada. I shudder to think of what would have happened to us with Andrew Scheer as Prime Minister through the ********* epidemic.

So stop trashing Trudeau and start selling me on what Conservatives have to offer, other than they're not Trudeau, because that's not enough. I want competent governance, not populist rhetoric.

We can lay the early vaccine shortages on Donald Trump's doorstep. Canada was to get their Pfizer supplies from their factory in upstate New York, but after the US approved the Pfizer vaccine for use in the USA, Donald Trump signed and executive order that no American pharmaceutical manufacturer could export any vaccine until the USA had enough vaccine for their entire population, barring the Pfizer lab from shipping to Canada.

Canada's supply chain was interrupted (late December, early January), until the German Pfizer plant was in a position to take over our order from the American plant. It is to be noted that Joe Biden did NOT rescind that particular EO when he took office. Biden cancelled quite of few of Trump's EO's after he to office, but he left that one alone

I've participated in LOTS of polls. Every election cycle I get calls, sometimes more than one. I've also participated in political focus groups when I lived in Toronto. A free dinner and $50. Sure, I'll take part in your focus group.

I'm surprised to see O'toole's popularity. IMO he is more like a hobbit than a politician - not much gravitas and zero charisma. I find Stephen Harper likeable in comparison, and I don't like him.

No, not for me. TBH, I can barely remember Scheer - but do remember that I really didn't care for him at all. IIRC I found him to rather be a weasel.

I personally thought Stephen Harper was a condescending asshole, but I still looked at what he was doing and the issues I was concerned about, rather than his smarminess, and overall dishonesty.

Harper's "Americanization" of the Canadian economy was a disaster. Stagnating wages, rising prices, and an increase in the wealth gap - all of which were reversed by Liberal policies. Economically, I'm much better off under the Liberals, as are my children. Conservative policy is really good for the rich and middle class, but retirees, and wage workers are simply ignored.

Yeah I’m not a fan of the reliance on like or dislike of a political leader.

Much more important to read the policies because that is what will matter.

If you turn off your TV you never have to see the leader.

But the policies will impact your life no matter if you like them or not.

I’d like to see some policy positions come out that are grounded in reality because I’m not really seeing that yet from anyone.

Seeing lots of “pie in the sky” ideas so far.

• accusing small business owners of being tax cheats.
• SNC Lavalin scandal
• WE Scandal
• Treatment of Jody Wilson Raybould and subsequently Jane Philpott. (Probably his two strongest cabinet ministers).
• His "woke" approach to everything.
• His spending insanity (pre pandemic)
• Complete failure re Afghanistan
• Handling of the fisheries file, specifically LIFO (shrimp fisheries) and more recently lobster.
• Virtue signalling constantly. Silencing strong women.
• No regard for finances of the country.
• Still - after six years - blaming Harper for everything. Hilarious really.
• Divisive politics.

Those are what I hate about this government.

Conservatives will hopefully put an end to CERB so Canadians go back to work and small businesses stop being forced to close due to shortages of workers. Way too many lazy people taking advantage of CERB. It was a VERY necessary program during the pandemic, but not now... and it has created a crazy situation where people would rather sit on their butts and collect a welfare cheque than to get to work like the rest of us.

The spending orgy has to end. Trudeau's total debt is more than all previous governments combined... and he was well on his way to this before the pandemic, so no need to blame the pandemic.
