Here's a separate thread for the CS Budapest Trophy Women's event since there's a lot of interest in Alysa's return to competition and it'll make it easier to read play-by-play and find/post video links afterwards here (for the benefit of those of us who chose not to pay for the livestream) - thank you in advance! :)

Oh, competent Maddie decided to show up today after getting put on notice by Shiryaeva last week that she couldn't ass-stumble her way through the fall & Canadian Nats on her way to Worlds with no real challengers.

First group has been lit! Kimmy also skated beautifully!

Working on uploading the SPs of Maddie & Kimmy shortly.

Good start for Alysa after not competing for two years and being the 1st to skate. One thing we know from her is she's probably the best US woman when it comes to handling pressure and competing. US women are really on fire so far hope they can keep it up for the GP sesson.

i cannot time zone this week but I'll be here for Lindsay at least

I liked Liu but Lindsay is better.
I also have questions about the 3/3 rotations for both, but still, beautiful program from Lindsay

She must have gotten hammered on rotations which is a surprise as I thought the same of Liu's 3/3

Lindsay delayed the rotation on that first jump A LOT, so I can see how that might cause some issues. I didn't really watch the replay though lol.

Well, one is a SENIOR & Junior Worlds bronze medalist and one is merely a Junior Worlds bronze medalist, lol.

ok I watched Alysa's program and I think the second jump was maybe questionable, but the first looked good if a little flat. I was immediately worried about Lindsay's combo when I saw that rotation delay. But honestly Lindsay has a pretty good score and tomorrow will be a test of endurance for all of them so anything could happen. I'm happy to see so many US women going out there and laying down good programs though. It seems like they've all been building towards this and are going to be rising at the perfect time in an Olympic cycle.

Something told me to make sure to record Julia Sauter's program and while she may not compete for the podium, she's definitely ousting herself in the final FS flight group with this skate today! 62.98!
I was trying to scouring my brain to remember who used her SP music, and then I realized it was Isabeau!

Lindsay's program is beautiful, but she looked like she was thinking it through element by element. Some of the moves were not quite as extended as they could have been, and she still has some juniorish qualities. Her layback was gorgeous.

Alysa's presentation looked more complete.

Both had lovely skating and a great start to this season.

I'm guessing rotations will be key in the free.

I’m still hoping for Ava at Nats, somehow. My what a competition this should be.
Right?

At this point, I'd be perfectly satisfied if we spread the riches around with our post-season assignments - top 3 to Worlds, next 4 - send 3 to 4CCs and the other one to Jr Worlds since 5 of the 7 are still age-eligible for Jr Worlds :ROFLMAO: - yeah, I've complained about other countries sending "ringers" who've competed mostly seniors all season to Jr Worlds, but I feel sort of shameless here since so many of our women are performing really well and deserve some ISU Championship points for their WS rankings.

Beautiful, mature skating from Alysa! The jumps are what they are and she’s going to get dinged depending on the day and the panel. But that’s always been the case and she’s not really different than many others in the world from this perspective. This is competitive. My only quibble is please cut off like 50% of the rags on the edge of the dress.

Lindsay is also beautiful, mature and elegant. Her jumps are more suspect and up for debate than Alysa’s though. It’s always going to come down to the panel with her. But the overall package is lovely and her spins are to die for.

Happy that Madeline Schizas showed more of what she capable of today. The PCS is fair vs those ahead of her today, but she looked more polished today than she has in the past. And she looked like she was enjoying herself, which hasn’t been the case it seems in a long time. Also happy that she has put in some time on her spins. I suspect levels are still dicey for her, but she’s found some better positions and the Beillman at the end is actually quite nice now. You’d have never seen her be able to make a spin a highlight a couple years ago.

Looking forward to the long!

And Lorine has added to the clean, beautiful SPs of the morning! This ladies field made paying for the stream worth it all on their own.

And Janna Jyrkinen also goes clean!!! I'm liking this program for her. It fits her, stylistically.

ETA - I'll be uploading Schild & Jyrkinen shortly.

lol I was going to say the same thing. This program really worked for her. She looks good!

Eva-Lotta always has the most interesting costumes. I kind of adore the top of this dress.

Edited to add well at least she has a lovely dress because the jumps are not there at all
