Anne Heche Accident

Sounds serious, I hope she recovers! I wonder why in the heck she was driving so fast.
I was reading that this morning. I used to watch her on the soap opera back in the day. Hopefully she’ll be ok but there was a fire from the crash right? ?

I saw a video clip earlier of her on the stretcher and have struggled to sleep after that. Horrible :(

There was also a clip of her being shouted at after the first crash, when she refused to get out of the car.

I saw her kinda leaping up from the stretcher. There is lots of times media should just freaking back off.

There appears to be is a long history of mental health issues.

Fire is so, so, damaging to a person ?.

I was not aware of the mental health issues but that may explain the action. I have heard that burns are very painful.

I have loved Anne Heche since she played Vicky and Marley on Another World. But I've followed her throughout the years and she appears to be a very troubled woman with a traumatic family background (her father died of AIDS and also abused her, mother is a gay conversion therapist, both her siblings are gone). I hope she's okay and also feel horrible for the owner of the burned house.

I feel sorry for the woman whose house Heche crashed into. The house is destroyed. Fortunately the woman and her pets are okay.

The videos are horrific. Speeding, screeching tires, reckless swerving, crashing into a garage and then driving off despite calls to stop. She’s really lucky that no one other than herself was injured. It needs to be a hell of a long time before she’s behind a wheel again.

I’m another one who loved Anne Heche in Another World but she needs to never be behind the wheel again and needs to make full restitution and then some to the woman whose house she destroyed.

Back in 2000 she showed up at some random stranger's house in the middle of nowhere wearing just her underwear and sort of hung out all day and refused to leave til the homeowner finally called the cops. She later denied it being a mental breakdown and blamed it on taking ecstasy. Whether it's mental illness, drug dependency, or some kind of a combination that caused these crashes, she definitely needs to have her license taken away. She refused to stop after the first car crash, and then nearly killed herself and someone else with the second.

It’s insane that she even survived that. I feel really badly for the home owner too. What a shock that would have been.

I’m glad to see there is a Gofundme for the lady who lost everything. I am so pleased she and her dogs and tortoise were safe, but how awful to lose all her belongings.

I totally agree that Heche needs to face justice for this, but I still shudder to think of someone with those burns, even if it was caused by her own actions. I read that she thought her brother had killed himself purposely in a car accident a long time ago, and I wonder if she was trying to do the same :(

People can donate to whatever causes they like, but insurance should cover the woman's losses (and her deductible will likely be far less than the $100k they're asking for). I imagine she can also file a civil suit against Heche, assuming Heche has any money / assets left.

“At this time Anne is in extreme critical condition. She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” the rep said in a statement. “She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”

It seems like her condition is much worse than what was initially reported by her reps. Burns are a rough way to go. If she never regains consciousness it may be hard to understand what exactly happened with her.

A lot of people are underinsured. For example, many policies don’t cover temporary housing to the extent needed. Those who set up the GFM may be close enough to the situation to know what’s needed.

$100,000 to rebuild in that neighborhood where 2 bedroom stand alone houses are selling for about a million….. That will probably cover the home furnishing and appliances.

She was a renter I think. Lots of renters don’t take out insurance.

Lots if renters don't know they need insurance. Many assume that the landlord's insurance covers them.

Whenever we have a family member renting, we encourage them to purchase insurance. Every single one of them were unaware of that fact they need it (our kids, nieces, nephews, cousins, etx)

ETA - the reports of her condition, sounds like it is unlikely she will survive. Severe burns over most of her body (I'm assuming 3rd degree), coma since accident, critical lung injuries requiring mechanical ventilation. I would guess multiple fractures too.

It does seem highly unlikely she's going to survive. Horrific way to go. Yes, she brought it on herself, but still. I would hate to see anyone I love suffer like that, no matter the reason.

Our landlord requires us to purchase renters insurance as part of our lease agreement. A lot of them do these days.

She’s still in critical condition from an article I read last night.

It’s devastating to lose your home and everything in it ?. There are personal things you simply cannot replace.

No, it was definitely not rational behaviour. Could someone have stopped her? I guess we will never know.

It was really good luck alone that nobody else was injured from her crazy driving and crash.
