2026 Grand Prix Assignments

The update for the last spot at gpdF is taking a awful lot of time?
I don't know where the AnythingGOE account is getting this information (it looks like a random google spreadsheet), but they are reporting that Harris/Chan have been assigned to GPDF for the ice dance slot vacated by Janse van Rensburg/Steffan.

It appears to come from Ice Skating Australia's international assignments calendar: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...WUWM/edit?pli=1&gid=1562842148#gid=1562842148

I´m sorry to bring up this discussion again, but with Mia Risa Gomez win at Nebelhorn Trophy, will she be put on the top of the alternate list or put on the list according to the score? I don´t think we had a similar situation this season yet because the winners also had the highest score or already had spots, and I can´t remember how that turned out previous seasons because there wasn´t that many cases where winners had a score that would put them so low on the list.

The sentence about the winners being put on top of the list according to the score could also means if there are multiple winners of a Challenger on that list - they will be put according to the score, which makes sense. For example if one of the AIN athletes would win next week.

Edit: I found this earlier in the thread, seems like they cleaned up the language here about the Challenger winners which should make it clear that Mia will be further down the list for now:

In addition, winners of an ISU Challenger Series 2026/27 competition, provided they have scored the minimum total score, will be reordered or placed on the alternate list, based on their winning score at the 2026/27 ISU Challenger Series competition.

It’s unlikely to be relevant for Gomez, unless she can score 10 points higher, but once on the list, a score from another Challenger than is higher than the score on the list replaces the one that got the skater on the list, regardless of placement. It would be a big stretch for an assignment even she to pass Seniuk, even with Japan maxing out with three spots for 4/6 events and Korean maxing out for the last three events.

Yeah I agree, however if the winners would be put on the top of the list the case would be different. Not sure if it ever was the case but i´m glad ISU has cleared up the language regarding the Challenger winners.

Mia is going to Budapest Trophy, so she will be able to try to improve her score there. It would be hard for it to be relevant for this season unless as you say she improves her score a lot.

are we sure about bekker/hernandez? they were ahead of reitan/majorov who got off the alternates list at GPdF
We aren't certain why they were left off the Sept 16th Alts List. The GP doc states that injury is a valid reason to decline a GP invitation & not result in removal from the Alts List, so it may have been a situation where they were communicating with the ISU about their status yet had been removed on the assumption they would accept they GPdF invitation.

Until we see an updated Alts List (hopefully this week), I'd say it's safer to assume they've been added back to the Alts List than assume they're off of it entirely.

And the ice dance grid has been updated with BekHern out of SkAm. Tali/Lafornara should be the replacements (which is great since they were scheduled to make their GP debut last season at SkAm but had to withdraw due to Noah's injury).

Alts List has also been updated.

I really hope it´s just the case of NT organizers delayed with delivering whatever they need and not an overlook by ISU. She wouldn´t be high on the list but that is not a reason to forget someone.

Schubert/Remeshevskiy split as well. Nikita wrote a post about it earlier this summer. Seemed very sudden.

Pavlova/Sviatchenko have withdrawn from both GPdF and Finlandia.

It will be interesting to see who gets the GPdF invitation. Could go to BoiKoz but it might go to one of MishGal or ChikIan depending on how the results of Trialeti Trophy go this weekend & the scores they earn. Whichever of those last two winds up with the higher CS score will get the Finlandia spot since BoiKoz are already assigned to Finlandia.

It remains an open question whether any of these teams can get visas to compete at Finlandia.

Given the tight turnaround, I question whether any Russian team will be able to get a French visa.

I'm sad for Pavlova/Sviatchenko; when they were posting clips of quad throws early in the off season it looked like this season could be an exciting one for them. Hope they can make a full recovery and come back strong in the second half of the season.

Given the tight turnaround, I question whether any Russian team will be able to get a French visa.
They have three weeks, so it doesn't seem unreasonable to think that at least one of the teams should be able to obtain a French visa. But who knows? Allegedly the reason there weren't any Russians at Nebelhorn is because Germany isn't giving out many visas to Russians these days.

TBH I would think Finland would be at least as inhospitable as Germany. This war forced them to join NATO after 70 years (?) of technical neutrality. Denying visas to skaters is a walk in the park compared to that. Maybe @Finnice or @Hanna know?
It.should be possible. I know that FFSA has gotten lots of critique of inviting Boi/Koz to Finlandia. But if you get to one Schengen country, here we go.

If the ISU follows the same process for Petrosian as they did Gummenik, she will be placed on the Alternates List with her Trialeti score of 204.16, because she placed 11th/Top 75 on the 2025-26 SB list from the OWG.

That score would put her at the top currently.
