2026 Eurovision - Oh Vienna

I think other than some very out of tune high notes it wasn’t bad tonight.

I thought Australia were great and I enjoyed Norway, Romania, Luxembourg, Switzerland & Denmark.

I think the 5 I would ditch are Latvia, Ukraine (because of that out of key issue), Albania, Azerbaijan and Bulgaria. But it’s a tough one 🤷‍♀️

They are doing Ukraine dirty by choosing that mess of a run of notes as the highlight clip. :scream:

Australia reminds me of a combo of Leona Lewis and Vanessa Williams. I thought the song was tolerable while most were just bad.

I guess Finland is still my favorite

This might just be me getting old, but does anyone else wish the staging wasn’t allowed to be so OTT these days? Some of the effects are cool but I think a lot of the time it’s distracting from the song itself, and some of them look like a music video rather than a live performance.

I liked Sui and Den, hated Rou. So many others are like meh, Azeri words were hard to take.

I did watch both semis, but I am somehow not in the mood for it this year after all the Israel drama.
I like Croatia. Today there were many off key singers. And many that did not sound as if they were singing live. I think I heard the Ukrainian singer before live and she had a much better voice than today

Grand Final Running Order thoughts: This is much better than the semis. It seems clear to me that this year producers are rock fans

I liked Georgia, too bad they did not make it. Liked the pagan priestess, and the Belgian ice skating diva. Finland was dramatic, I summarized the story line to my husband as follows: the sauna is burning but the guy is madly in love. I hope i was right!

Feeling a little better so had a bit of a catch up based on the thread. I’m a complete hypocrite, I’ve always been, “bloody Australia” when it comes to Eurovision (but understand why).

I’m on the Delta Train! Get it girl!
:encore:

Excited to watch the final tomorrow - haven't had a chance to listen to the songs yet. I did go to the festival area in 2019. Didn't realize you had to pay to vote from the ROW - I did get an email from a group I am involved with to vote but a lot less than in previous years.

Mama Astra and I watched semi-final 2 together as well.

We liked Bulgaria, Australia, Romania, Armenia, UK, France, Austria and Albania.

Went to Poland today since the border is only 2 km from our place, enjoyed great Bigos and bought lots of drinks for the Final Party.

I will make some snacks (meatballs, a wreath out of pretzel dough, chicken wings, etc.) and this will probably the first time I am watching Eurovision where Mama Astra and I will be in the minority as non-Germans.

He is madly in love and asks if you can die from wanting, can he freeze his feelings etc. Sauna is not mentioned, but I like your version better.

also is Victoria Swarovski a drag name?
In her case just a jewelry/crystal company nepo baby name :shuffle: (when she started moderating on German speaking tv, I found her so bad it ruined my previous enjoyment of German Dancing with the stars completely, so I sure hope for the Eurovision audience she's improved over the last years :P )

So, the winner of Historical Eurovision was a shock: Congrats Trung Sisters! Most classes on the last hour of the last day of school were not doing anything, so they had the bright idea to ask if their friends could come in and watch. They packed and rigged that election like a Southern electoral map. Probably because every single member of was utterly tone deaf. It made me so proud. Mansa Musa was CLEARLY the best, but had little international support and did no campaigning among the sophomore electorate. They thought talent and historical accuracy would win, silly camels.

Louis XIV and Catherine the Great were good, but not good enough. It was a bad day to be a Peter and Russian. Peter III was beat by a wandering drunk dancing Cossack (inexplicably wearing the leaf hat of the Trung sisters), and Louis XIV wouldn't let Peter the Great party with him. There was a whole dis track Louis XIV did about how the Hermitage is just Temu Versailles. It was honestly kind of great.

Excuse me, but I just read that Delta Goodrem is Australia’s entry. I have a song of hers from 2008! WTH?

I made Flammenkuchen for dinner, supporting Finland. You all can like or dislike the song, but I appreciate both Linda's (survior of sexual assault''s) and Pete's (Finnish rasim).
Anyway, let's enjoy the competition!

I think she will win. I’m sure she still has some fans around Europe, she was huge here in around 2003 and it’s the sort of song I can imagine the jury going for.

It would be interesting to see if the 2nd place finisher would be willing to co-host!

The hologram zero budget openings are the dumbest shit ever. Walking on top of mountains and water and famous landmarks?

But the opening of the show was a million times better than all the cringe they filled the semis with.

Why do we get subtitles for the cheesy Albanian song, but not for the other songs that aren’t English? :shuffle:
