2026 Eurovision - Oh Vienna

Unfortunately, we won't be hosting our annual legendary Eurovision party this year because we are going to bury my bf's mother at sea in a different city on the 17th, so it will be a smaller group of us (the bf, his aunt, my mom and yours truly), but we will make the best of it anyway.

This year, the AP exam for World History was early. In celebration of being done, my students have to create a Eurovision performance as if they were an historical figure. So welcome to 2026 Historical Eurovision! The finalists are: Genghis Khan, Mansa Musa, Trung Sisters, Catherine the Great, and Louis XIV.

I would much rather see your finals than the real one!

I am here, suffering Croatia's lack of hitting the harmony.
That was a shame! Other than that I thought the first 4 performances have been really good in very different ways… I am already in pain thinking of the boring songs that will no doubt qualify over the voidy ones :drama:

this was all sort of ok, I remember Poland most then Greece so those would be my votes I could be bothered
I thought no one was bad except that Portugal and Lithuania were very off key in places. There aren’t 5 songs I think deserve to not make it.

I really didnt like Italy both the song and the dancers. the lady seemed like a real dancer and the man was tossing her like a sandbag.

Aww, San Marino and Estonia were two of my favourites tonight, so that’s a shame, but I’m really glad some of the more fun/voidy songs went through, Moldova and Greece in particular.

I think Lithuania was lucky because the last minute of his vocals was shocking :scream:

also is Victoria Swarovski a drag name?
She is the heiress of the Swarovski empire and has actually been the host of the German version of "Dancing with the Stars" for ages by now after winning the whole thing.

Mama Astra and I liked Poland, Croatia and Moldova.

We also made our Top 10 and were 80% correct. San Marino and Estonia in the Finals would've been cool instead of Belgium and Sweden.

If the Deutsche Bahn does their job well on Thursday, we might even make it in time to watch the second semi-finals on the island of Usedom in our AirBnB, so fingers crossed!

I have a school interview on Friday so I have been studying but just went through this quickly and wow, I really, really didn't like most of the entries. I thought the camera editing choices were poor, especially with Moldova, and it looked like even the production slipped up a few times getting into place. I thought the in-between fluff stuff was super lame too, and it all got topped off with the presenters having to wait a good minute to read the six countries still vying for the final spot. And as I say every year, the music to vocals volume ratio always seems off.

Finland was my favorite but nothing makes me want to go back and listen on repeat.

I hope the segments between the acts are less cringe than yesterday. that Australia vs Austria thing was maybe the worst time filler ever.

The producers need fired for every single side feature they've had so far. This is terrible. The whole thing seems so low-budget and thrown together.

how is night 1 better so far?
the one I can remember is the one with the gibberish, was it Bulgaria? the French girl was cute

Just because you can do a long wail with your voice doesn’t mean you should :scream:

She isn’t the only one who has gone off key tonight, there have been a few.

I thought Australia was a very strong performance and I can see the jury vote going with it, and she probably still has a decent fanbase. It’s not really my type of song but I can see her doing very well.
