Rob Brodie's interview with Fee Ann Landry: 'We all have a shot at it right now'
Landry and choreographer Joey Russell have already built her new short program for the 2026-27 season, but ideas are still be developed for the free, which will be crafted by David Wilson. While she wasn’t yet ready to disclose the music choice for the short (typical fare for skaters at this time of the year), Landry indicated both programs will showcase a bit of a different side of her skating.

“All I can say is that we changed, to do something new and explore different things for next season,” she said. “And so that’s kind of the direction we’re taking for both programs. It’s still kind of my style, but completely different in a way.”

Daleman is looking for music suggestions. She’s looking for iconic jaw dropping music for her long program.

hmm, iconic and jaw dropping.......Black Swan? SKater's Waltz? I interpret her description as meaning a piece that has been heard many times before but she will skate to it with a different, unique twist that raises it above all others skated before? That is a challenge for sure.

Yes, that's what I was thinking. Perhaps "Pirates of the Caribbean" or "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" would be good vehicles for her.

I can think of very few things that she is suited less to than Black Swan or the Skaters Waltz. :scream:

I think she should do Gladiator again, but not that tinkly princess crap she did in the first half of the 2017/2018 season. Do the actual soundtrack, with all the power behind it. It would be great for her.

Virtue and Moir picked Moulin Rouge so don’t get your hopes up.
IIRC, they skated to it pre-warhorse days and then unfortunately opened the door to the avalanche.

I could've blocked the timeline out though. ;)

Daleman has always favored girly girl, tinkly piano music. I've never understood why she and her choreographers haven't tried to showcase her power more.

I think the opening of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto no. 1 would be great for her for an SP.

For the FS, something more modern, with piano as the primary instrument would be great. And even though she's not an American, there are early Bruce Springsteen songs with long instrumental sections that would make beautiful free skates. New York City Serenade would be great.

In my opinion Daleman is neither versatile skater nor classical music of skater; so, please, no Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1. One has to have the ability or calling from the deeply inside to interpret classical music. I think she is good to skate herself and that is what she has to do! Though, I have not followed her carrier closely I might be wrong of course.

It depends what kind of iconic she wants. I would hope she’s not aiming for music that is already seen as iconic in skating, but for something that SHE can make iconic. And iconic these days seems to mean going viral on social media. So from that pov I think Wonder Woman is an excellent idea! I can totally see that going viral with her in the costume.

Is Daleman still working with Lori Nichol? I've always thought that Daleman's powerful skating was a bit of a miss-match with Nichol's more traditional choreo style. I actually think Daleman could benefit from BENOIT-style quirky music/choreo. Maybe a program to Frida?

ETA: A Buffy the Vampire Slayer program would definitely be iconic IMHO.

I would agree - but didn't she use this music before?
Yes, off and on since 2019 she has been skating to Samson and Delilah.

I would agree that Nichol wasn’t that best fit for her over the years. A Lori program is best with skaters who are already “finished” if that makes sense. David Wilson is very skilled at working with a skater and shining them up to look their best. I think he’d be a better fit. I also think he’d be smart enough to play into her speed and not try to dull it with tinkly piano music.

I was rewatching some of Laura, the 1944 movie. It has an iconic, jazzy, orchestral soundtrack. Daleman would be good in a femme fatale character program. Her skating has an old school look, in a good way, and I can see her skating to big soundtrack music like they did in the 1990s-early 2000s.
