2025–26 Canadian Ice Dance: News and Updates

I bet FSTW stands for FS Twitter 😉 I'm not on Twitter and that's one more reason to think Iwaw right to delete my (personal) account!
Yes, it does, though it can also encompass the likes of reddit & other places where FS gossip runs amok, often with little to back it up beyond pure conjecture & anonymous reports.

Twitter is even more of a cesspool than it was when I bailed after the 2024 election, I only follow skating links people post here. However because I have no follows or followers, Twitter thinks I want to see MAGA posts and sends me notifications for that.

I miss the Twitter of ten years ago where people played rough but you could still get into substantive discussions with journalists and political people.

I like it but it isnt the same to me, something about the format but all the best people did show up which is nice but I'm not as inspired to post as much as I used to

Yeah, it's different, and occasionally there's some annoying lag time. But I'll take what I can get!

Not to jump too far ahead, but how will the rules apply to them for GP events? Is it based on Marjorie's results last year? Is there any benefit to him being a returning skater with those rules?

Trying to figure out if I will see them live at SCI in Kelowna :D. At least I know I will get to see them live at Nationals in Mississauga and hopefully at Worlds too in Tampere!! Wheeee!!! (all under the assumption they are competing for Canada lol, I hope!)

Neither did I! He's got a lot of other irons in the fire professionally which made me dismiss the rumors.
LaLa being a very recent split JLB would hae honoured his commitments that were already booked so I didn't think that was a bg factor.

And I think the fact that Olivia didn't shoot that one down gave the rumour legs.

Am glad Marjorie isn't left partnerless and there was someone of quality to team up with ❤️

I'm starting to wonder if this was planned for awhile.

As in "I'm probably splitting with Zak at the end of the season, why don't you go get your PR, Jean-Luc?"

At least I hope this is how it went down.

No but Jean-Luc must have a work permit for Canada already, so he would have an easier time to Citizenship than Lajoie would for USA.

If he already has PR (likely as it just makes more sense if working in Canada) Citizenship won't be hard at all.

Crossing fingers he has PR.

I can't imagine them choosing to skate for the US instead of Canada, since there is such a void in Ice Dance in Canada now. These guys would likely be Canada's Top Team from the outset.... where in the US they'd probably be gunning for 2nd or 3rd...

I've been kind of uncertain about this because of his age, but even a season or two of them together will be beautiful.

I’m excited to see them but I won’t deny this is the first thing I thought of. Also, getting back into competition shape. We know from the shibs it’s not the easiest. He was off ice less time, but a couple years is a couple years.

I also had a hard time believing the rumors about Lajoie/Baker, but I guess the Twitter anons were right. I'm very intrigued about this new pairing. Jean-Luc was always an amazing skater and I'm happy that Marjorie is partnering with someone who can match her skating skills.

Yes plus if Lim/Lagha is true, they will be sitting out a season so Marjo/Jean-Luc could get a big jump on them.

No, I think LaLa decided after worlds ie..it was the final nail.
