amber is leading going into the free that's not good for her
Ehhhhhh... I don't know that it's bad. She knows she didn't skate great and was gifted by the tech panel. We'll see how she does on Saturday. Ted & Mark are mentioning that she told Damon Allen she tweaked her back during the program, so hopefully the Team USA physiotherapist will be able to get her patched up enough to get through the FS with a CoC-like program.

I love Amber and glad she's in first but the blatant favoritism toward the one white girl in this event is super shady. The toe should at least be < if not << and the loop should have been a q or <.

If everyone else is getting looked at under a microscope she should be too.

Eff you Gusmeroli and your stupid clown program.

Well, I had a great time on day #1 of the GPF. Can't think of a better way to have spent a rainy, windy day in early Dec. See you all tomorrow.

Now, I'm off to see what hubby is watching upstairs. My expectations are somewhat dampened by the loud, "that will be a rainy day in Hell!" I just heard someone (on the TV) screaming.

I wanna clarify that Gusmeroli is one of three on the panel, and she’s the last one listed. It’s a majority vote for everything so for all we know, she’s just been on a bunch of panels where she’s overruled by the other two.

I don’t think it’s favoritism toward the white girl at all, especially when the actual fact is that the technical controller is from China. But who ever uses facts for anything?

Sakamoto 19 times out of 20 gets no call or the stupid ! on her serious flutz, Higuchi the same story with her ‘flip’.

ETA- for the way Kaori skated and for the mess of choreography and posture that is this short program, her PCS are ridiculous, comparatively speaking.

I plan on watching the last episode of the first season of "Day of the Jackal" on Peacock - I got hooked a few weeks ago after CoC and want to see what sort of a cliffhanger it ends with (I presume it ends with one, lol).

This is honestly such a wild frame to take when Kaori’s flutz was fully ignored.

You’re going to have a long wait. Today’s episode is #8; 9 and 10 drop next Thursday.

🤦‍♀️ I knew that! I was confusing it with Lioness on Paramount, which only has 8 episodes per season - they're up through episode 7 and the last one drops on Sunday or Monday, I think.

The toe in Sakamoto's combo was not any more around than Glenn's.

Granted, Sakamoto got a < and Glenn only got a q. I disagree with the q and think Glenn deserved a <. Both women were bordering on << on the second jump, IMO. Sakamoto's flip was also short; you can see the under-rotation clearly and it contributed to the necessary turnout.

Given that a flutz ("e") comes with a mandatory reduction in base value and reduction in GOE that a warning does not, I don't think Glenn was any more gifted than Sakamoto. I'd have had Sakamoto behind Matsuike, who did get a << call on her lutz, which was the one call in the event that I thought was harsh.

I don't love the complete break in choreography and a whole 9 seconds just going around slowly to prep for the Axel, but it was done. Rotation maybe needs another look.

ONCE AGAIN that toe loop technique, I'm sorry. It's always short. This time she came down on two feet which will really get a second look and she may very well get the < along with a ! call.

And then the loop, which she does in her sleep on the bad days, another two foot and short as well.

Watching it live you called those jumps Tony, the loop she did about 4ft away from me and was two foot and short. A lot of us confused in the audience with her score? I mean I do want her to win. It was strange scoring, need to watch it on the TV replay and figure it out.

No, you're right - it definitely looks two-footed in this video clip, and I think the rotation was somewhere between q & <.

Just no.

You can see her free foot toe pick hit the ice almost a full 1/2 rotation short. The ice flies up. Literal insanity that it came off as 'clean'.

No way Jose, you’re always calling under rotations on everybody from here to Mars, the only thing I see with Glenn’s loop is maybe was two footed but it’s fully rotated

It’s beyond frustrating that her triple axel got no GOE, that’s crazy. It should have positive GOE.
