Anyone else drinking the Lions' Honolulu Blue Kool-aid this year? Though not the flashiest of QBs, Goff is damn good, and, bonus, he's not currently injured. Defense needs some help but the team is super fun to watch. Last week's game with the Chargers was craze-balls. As a native Michigander, I've been a hopeful fan for decades. It is so weird to have them be in serious contention for the playoffs. Dan Campbell for Coach of the Year!

I’d love to see the Lions make it to the Super Bowl. They had one of my favorite viral moments last year when the adorable Aiden Hutchison sang “Billie Jean.” You could feel that team coming together. I was sorry to see my Chiefs lose to the Lions but thems the breaks.

I didn't see the first play of the Packers-Chargers game because I was watching the delivery guys at the door, but to get a technical call on a Green Bay player and to be told they will be ejected with any other technical.

I missed it. I saw that Joey Bosa was injured and saw how upset he was and thought this looked serious. I need to run a few errands so I will need to catch up.

There have been three injuries that they've taken players to the locker room by cart. This is a very physical game.

Another cardiac-inducing game for the Lions. Fields' return was pretty great. Goff was terrible with three interceptions and was off for most of the game. But then, 2 TD and a 2 point conversion in the last 3 minutes. Hutch was clutch causing a safety to finish it off. It wasn't pretty and shouldn't have been this tough but a win is a win, no? 8-2 for the first time since 1960. Oy.

What is it about the second half for the Chief's offense? They sparkled in the first half. Jason Kelce gets to finally beat Travis and I was happy for him. I think Mahomes has to keep throwing downfield. Maybe sooner or later it will work.

I think Mahomes is doing what worked last year. He has not adjusted while every team they are playing have figured him out.

I disagree respectfully...the teams went to the two high safety look last year and that hasn't stopped this year. He's been good about taking what they give. The long range attempts: he is putting passes in great spots and they are dropping them. And he did have an interception. I will say that they looked really good in the first half...better than I have seen all year. If they can duplicate that going forward.....Kelce is the cover story on the WSJ's magazine. He admitted he thinks about retirement a lot because he is hurting a lot. It's a good read....I'll put it here:

Thanks for that. It's a great read. I knew I liked this guy, and the article just confirms it. In all honesty, I'd kind of like to see this thing with TS work out long-term. They seem like they both might be ready to build something real. I don't really think of myself as a romantic, but... yeah. Wouldn't it be nice? (Cue the Beach Boys, lol.)

And with that, I'm ready to go back to the football discussion. Thanks for indulging my brief foray into romanticism.

I do think KC is trying to develop more than one playmaker. Which is good

I believe that opposing teams are very aware that Mahomes has the ability to find ways to score and are laser focused to stop him. I think that prior scoring opportunities to make those final scoring drives just aren't "cooked" at this time.

I think he, Reid, fans are expecting way too much success based upon previous years. Last year without Hill, the Chiefs found a way to win, despite the experts opinions. While they are doing what would be an awesome year, a 7-3 season is pretty damn good, it's not the year everyone expected. It's pretty damn hard to pull off the big last seconds wins.

As a Vikings fan, boy do I identify with this. Last year Cousins and the boys in purple and gold made last-second wins look kind of easy. Expected, even. This year, not so much. Yeah, there have been some personnel changes (big ones). But that loss to the Broncos on Sunday night was damn painful. They had every opportunity to win and couldn't make it happen. I just had to sit and watch while the Broncos pulled off the kind of last-second victory that usually went our way last season.

Well coming at it from a Chief's perspective I love Travis. He is such a goofball but completely serious about the game itself. And I didn't know what to think about his relationship with Swift when the news starting leaking out. Was it real or a pr stunt? But he's a smitten kitten and so, apparently, is she and I'm happy for them. I did laugh at some of the comments from readers at the end of the article. Tiger Beat indeed. Just let the rest of us enjoy them. Between them and Jason Kelce and his family I find football is providing a full heart. Who knew!!

I thought they would be ok without JuJu but not so though I like what I see in Rice. He is a pup though. And I agree---there are a lot of teams that would like to have our problems and that record. I don't know if they will figure it out this year but I am glad they keep trying. They may need to find more receivers next year. I watched Patrick's news conference and I love how level he is and how he doesn't throw people under the bus. I used to think of a four point diamond with the Chiefs: The points were Reid, Mahomes, Kelce and Hill and they were so exciting. Now the offense is struggling but the defense is awesome. I'd love to get everyone on the same page if possible.

Gah. This headline almost makes it sound as though the suspension was unjustified.

Sad news: NFL suspends Denver safety key player again…

What's unconscionable to me is that on the night of the game, this blatantly illegal hit wasn't even flagged by the refs. That hit led to points for the Broncos ... points which won them the game in the end. Infuriating. But not all that surprising for a team coached by Sean Payton. We in Minnesota still haven't forgotten about "Bounty-gate," Sean. And we never will.

Do you know I didn’t know about Payton’s history and he started appearing weekly on Colin Cowherd’s show after he left the Saints. And over the course of that year I grew to dislike him. He was so conceited. He had the 11th pick in the 2017 draft and was going to take Mahomes but KC traded picks to get the 10th pick and grabbed him first. Thank God.

I watched just a few minutes of The Heights where Jason and Travis talked about Mondays game. I didn't hear it all, but Jason eluded to beating the Chiefs wasn't as good a feeling as thought it might be. Because he wasn't too happy about offensive play of the Eagles. I think both of them are still uncertain how to deal with beating the other

They both discuss the offensive struggles. Travis said they'd be back to work because they had a game to prepare for.

Then they said let's talk happier things - and did their promo for dog food. I think the transitioned Travis' early career playing with Alex.

For those who aren't familiar with "Bounty-Gate," here's a pretty good primer from Wikipedia. And why it still matters to Vikings fans:

Minnesota Vikings 2012: Looking Back at the NFC Championship Game, Bountygate.

There are those who believe (and I'm one of them) that Payton had more than a little to do with what happened, even though he was never found to have put out any bounties himself. He was suspended for an entire year for a reason. And yet, somehow, it doesn't seem that he has learned much from that punishment. He's instilling that same kind of culture in Denver. I can't stand him.

I was able to watch a lot of it this afternoon. Travis was certainly glum about the loss and Jason tried to cheer him up. And his Thanksgiving plans was KFC because he will stay in town for football practices though apparently Mahomes threw a Friendsgiving last weekend. I am sure he will have invitations after that. I hope the offense can solve their second half problems.

What a scumbag. I can’t believe Cowherd let him on his show every week. I’m sorry Mahomes has to see him twice a year now.

As a Cowboys fan, I have to give the Eagles credit. They really know how to get it done this year. (And a couple of iffy calls/no calls from the refs certainly helped out)

They are the real deal. I genuinely feel sorry for Josh Allen. He was so good in a losing effort to KC in the most incredible ending I’ve seen in a playoff game. Then he looked so good again yesterday only to come up short again. But of course I hope the Chiefs win when they face the Bills in a couple of weeks. The Bills are a team that is better than their record.
