Blumenthal skated to Leonard Cohen's "Famous Blue Raincoat" - have always thought he's an expressive/musical skater.

I was a little Liam didn't skate as planned. Does he typically do a low season competition in the US, or will we need to wait until BC Summerskate to see him compete?

@shutterbug since Liam competed at Junior Worlds just last month perhaps he wasn't ready to start up again so soon? Last year he competed at the Skate Milwaukee Junior Cup in early July for a JGP spot but he didn't place high enough for one. I don't yet know if Kapeikis plans to return to the JGP or move up internationally.

A few notable Canadian skaters from Ontario (Hewitt & Woodley in Jr. SP soon; Roccatani, Karon, Kleinman in Sr. SP) are registered to compete in the Ann Arbor club comp. today - I've posted info/links here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/2022-u-s-club-nqs-competitions.109696/

Why would a U.S. skater have been scheduled to do that competition anyway? Or did Kapeikis switch countries when I wasn't looking?

Liam Kapeikis trains in Coach Keegan Murphy's group (Wesley Chiu, David Li, now Blumenthal) in Richmond BC. Last year he skated in this Victoria Day comp. (and in previous years too). Liam's mom is Canadian, I believe, and coaches at that rink as well as in Wenatchee, WA.

ETA that @shutterbug has been a fan of Liam's since May 2019 :

A few random comments about the Victoria Day competition events I was able to catch yesterday - ... In the junior men, Liam Kapeikis caught my eye. Where has this young man been hiding? Nice musicality, and a big, strong 2A that looks like it could progress easily to a 3A.

Some interesting additions - Aleksa Rakic in Senior Men, McIntosh/Mimar in Senior Pair (still no Proft/Nadeau), Soucisse/Firus (presumably Shane will be there ) in Senior Dance, Junior champion Anthony Paradis in Junior Men, Bashynska/Beaumont (presumably Nadya will also show) and new team of Lauren Batka/Jacob Yang in Junior Dance. I also noticed Ava Kemp is skating in Novice Women, so possibly we might see Kemp/Elizarov in Junior Pair.

Just MHO, but maybe 2 separate threads? The NextGen competition will likely count toward decisions for JGP spots, and looking over the senior entries in the Sectional event, there should be some good competition to discuss.
