Junior RDs :cheer:

WHEEEEEEEE the Cyprus team is here!! Haven't seen them since the JGPs and have really missed them! They'd better show up at Junior Worlds!

OMG how this program gives me life! It has got to be one of the most entertaining RDs of the season for sure, so many voidy choreo details! :cheer: However I don't think it was their best performance of the program today.

:cheer2: Dania and Théo :cheer2:

The future of ice dance is HERE. :summer:
And Barbara Piton is its fairy godmother (as a contrast to how austere she sounds in interviews :D)
They are going to be a bit too young for 2026 (the rules would allow them, barely) but after that, the infinite and beyond ...

Now you got me curious!

Needed to mention that watching the senior FD I think Dupayage/Nabais free is a very interesting modern masterpiece (costumes included) that would definitely deserve a stage bigger than the Bavarian Open!

Agreed.
Dupayage/Nabais' FD is my personal "program of the year". Arribert makes tailor-made programs. The more defined the dancers' identity is, the more fit are the programs she gives them. And this one is soo fit to Dupayage/Nabais, it really shines through.

About Théo Bigot and Dania Mouaden,
their CDs are here : https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x879bp6
the waltz at 2:10:48, the blues at 3:58:20

Their FD is here : https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x879wxj
at 2:36:02

When I checked the line-up before the competition, I thought this was going to be interesting as Dania and Théo were meeting their first big opponents, ie the american couple Ilin/Cain, the american novice champions. Dylan and Olivia are very young, they have beaten far older skaters at home. They are among the couples who receive funding from the USFSA, the youngest by far. They are the big hope of the US in ice dance post 2026.

Dania and Théo have the same profile. They are actually born the same years. 2009 for the girls and 2008 for the boys. I just know Dania and Théo are both from the end of the year. Couldn't find the information for Olivia and Dylan. They are 12yo/13yo. They will reach junior in 2023-2024, maybe a year earlier for Olivia and Dylan. It is Dylan and Olivia's first international outing. It is Dania and Théo's 3rd (they started in october). I thought the direct comparison would be telling. And even if the americans might have been weak in the knee for their very first international comp (but no big mistake), the current gap of 23 points is huge (and very visible when Olivia/Dylan skate just before Dania and Théo)...

Dania and Théo are the very first french couple to reach this stage of development at such a young age.
If you take Gabriella and Guillaume, you could see the potential when they were 11, but they were 17 when they were able to be competitive with the best russians and the best americans. And 20 when they established themselves as the superior team. That's where you see the specific work of Barbara Piton who, for the last 10 years, has focused on the development of young dance couples and has professionalised it beyond what is usual in France. Nothing unusual in the US or Russia, but probably with the additionnal will to "produce" young couples, with the same advantages that Virtue/Moir, Davis/White, Papadakis/Cizeron had over the competition by being paired young. It doesn't work often but when it does...

Now, I'm very curious to see what the russians have in their sleeves for that generation.

Nmsis, thank you for your post, a very interesting read! :) I'll certainly remember the names (I already remember hearing about the US team a few years ago). Bigot certainly already has an impeccable posture and they have nice flow and knee bend and plenty of difficulty for their age. :)
