Given how some of these young women struggled with breathing through the SP, I suspect the FS will be a disaster for many of them. Which adversely enough, may work in Trusova's favor since she's healthy. Or is at this point.

After watching the Russian Cups, I decided to ignore the scoring here as they have had a blatant Tutberidze bias all season, and only expected that to be enhanced here.

Nugumanova definitely the highlight of the day for me. Final group at nationals is a great achievement for her. :encore:

Meh. Trusova got hit with a ! on her flip and suddenly almost all judges decided it was +1, yet the skater right in front of her wobbled through a Lutz on the complete wrong edge and got +3's.

Also, to me, Shcherbakova is nowhere near the level of a 9.25 or above skater.

If the rumors about Trusova's father visiting the old rink are true, they may opt for politics over technique. Wouldn't that upset the rink. Her parents seem to really want an Olympic medal. I'd say she should spend the summer with Mishin, but his political cachet in ladies doesn't seem to help his skaters.

Proud of Anna for skating as well as she did, but I'm assuming the plan is to withdraw her before the LP. It sucks to not defend her title, but that was not the breathing of someone who can keep going for 4 minutes.
Well that would be a bummer.

Judges are low balling Mishin’s lady skaters, so it may not be a good idea to go to him. Eteri skaters seem to be getting favors.

I suspect judges want Trusova to be lady like, which upsets me. She is a trailblazer, like Midori. I love her spunk. I hope she lands all her quads in the LP.

Sorry, the judging here is a joke...not just top-3 situation but the ungraceful one with too much make-up in 7th place...ahead of exquisite skaters like Guliakova or Samodurova??!! Give me a break. Somebody is sending payment$ to the right places.

I feel like we don't need to amplify the desperate attention-seeking any more.

Thanks for the video links. I think there's going to be a ton of movement in the LP, led by Talalaikina. 💪

Re scoring: the Fed has already admitted that Team Tutberidze does everything in the best possible way and all other coaches can’t catch up with them, so it’s not surprising (but still frustrating to see).
But now they got a new sponsor - Gazprom, a Russian partially state-owned multinational energy corporation
(hence the masks with letter G) :saint:

I just can't with the overscoring of Kamila (and I like her!).
I absolutely loved Nugu 😍😍😍
To see such beautiful skating is rare these days and I am so happy she skated well.
I like Anna S too but today, her program felt a bit flat. I understand she want to defend her title but I hope she does not force herself too much out of her illness (did she have covid or was it something else?)
Trusova's SP is really good and such a pleasure to see a bit of a different side to her skating. For me, she and Nugu really delivered today and I would have them 1-2.
Daria is a classic Eteri skater but feels a bit juniorish comparing to the others. Still, she is very reliable and I am curious too see how much she will improve heading into the Olympic season. With her already high scores and if she manage to transform her big 2A into a 3A, I feel she could be a bit of a dark horse next season.

Liza's cheekbones are to die for.

The lilac color really suits her. She looks gorgeous.

Very meh skating and judging today except for Nugu. I hope Trusova can prove the judges wrong tomorrow. Land everything and dare them not to put her in first. Liza won't have enough base value to win now or even make the podium most likely.

Is Liza going to put the quad toe in her LP? She has landed those in practice.

I can't imagine Anna doing a 3-4 quad program tomorrow since she is still recovering. I would like her to do two quads though.

I want five Clean quads from Trusova tomorrow. I am so upset with the judging!

I agree that I think trusova was robbed
Another one with "Eteri hate" glasses on..... :). Last year Trusova was one of the most disliked skaters on FSU, with every skating fault possible. This year she is with Plushenko, so suddenly people "like and defend her". Same as it was with Medvedeva. If Valieva moves on to another coach, here on FSU she'll become "genius of all skaters".......:D

Trusova's skate was very average, without quads and 3A's, and with her new "girly" image, her skating is not that special, as it used to be when she was "russian rocket tom-boy". Back then when she was in Khrustalniy, Trusova never placed above 3rd in SP, several skaters, including Shcherbakova and Kostornaya used to place above her.

Yes, all the people who have noticed Trusova's improved basics, non-frantic programs, impressive (when landed) jumps, and notable improvements are Plushenko ubers.

That must explain why people also only rooted for Kostornaia after she switched to Mr. Yana.

I slept through this entire event but after watching highlights, the real highlight was the PBP thread.
