Tsibinova

-nice 3z (rippon)-3t
-2a
3r, without a lot of preceding steps

She looks tall. Some nice sweeping movements and good spins. Great start! :cheer:

I gasped when Valieva went down on the 3A. Might have been better not to try it, but on the other hand she needs to try it.

I love this program. And Daniil probably made the best use of the music for the spins that I’ve ever seen.

I don’t think the Axel was far enough around, maybe even << but there’s always the ‘q’ option because it’s Russia :)

Valieva

This is the program I prefer of her two this season

-3f good
-2a long setup and fall ETA: oh, a 3a attempt, that explains it :duh:
-wonderful combo spin
-nice brief spiral
-excellent combo 3z-3t, both jumps were equally high
-fantastic final spin

I really don't think she has the mental toughness that some of the other Russians have. Not to say that she can't be very successful because if she hits in the right moment, she's the complete package, but that she's less reliable than say Med at her peak. ETA: well, 3a makes this paragraph less relevant. Good to attempt it.

Axel splat, but since that's not particularly costly in terms of points in a ladies SP, it's just a question of whether the judges dock her PCS much.

EDIT: Almost 80 points, ha. Eteri would never let the judges dock her PCS.

You never know. I used to think the same of Alina, and then she went and won the OGM.

But I'd feel a little better about Kamila if she didn't look like she was about to burst into tears every second.

Frolova

There's something quite calm about her skating.
-3z
-small whippy 2a
-3f fall :( no combo so leaving a lot of points behind
and a mistake in the step sequence

Not her day
