I am all emo music-ed out for a day... I need some upbeat music!!!

Vanessas dress was stellar...although I think i prefer her in more of the warrior style, harder music programs rather than these lyrical, romantic programs...

I missed the first 2 teams and I heard there were some great costumes..

Wow, Deanna misses podium by less than a half point.

@marbri

James/Radford skated like a team who just got together without good unison, speed, or choreographic complexity. Which is to be expected at this point, but they don't deserve scores in the high 7s or 8s for that performance.

C-G/L do have quality matching movement that the other teams didn't have. And their scores were mostly in the low-mid 7s.

I’ll watch this later...just checking results. Oh my, the Gribbles just barely hung on to 3rd!

After seeing the Japanese yesterday, I’m very happy that they won today. Looking forward to seeing replay of the finals.

James & Radford are progressing much faster as a pair than I thought they would. I was fairly impressed, even with the mistakes on the jumps and throw. I already enjoy them more than I ever enjoyed Duhamel & Radford.

Cain & LeDuc’s pairs elements still look scary as hell. His lift footwork is still not great - it’s slow and scratchy. The transitions between positions are sloppy. Their team definitely made more of an effort to have them skate as a pair, but it doesn’t pay off IMO. They’re at their best when they’re not in hold, and just skating fast side by side. Aside from their pair combination spin, none of their elements deserved more than +1 GOE.

Whoa Miura & Kihar! Amazing progress. If they keep this up, Japan could be in contention for the Team Bronze at the Olympics. They almost made me forget this was a September competition. The short program music edit is a hack job, and they should get their money back.

I think Stellato should have gotten bronze, but their skating is so awkward, switching between smooth and frantic. The lack of unison in the jumps highlights the lack of unison elsewhere. I just kept finding myself looking for awkward moments. Considering all that, it’s not like they were robbed of a medal.

Just watched this now.

ITA with the winners -- unquestionably #1 here - Miura/Kihara of Japan! Two fab programs this week, skated like a dream. Superb free to "Woman." Smooth, easy skating. The spectator is relaxed watching them. Sharp in jumps, throws, in betweens. I see them helping Japan earn an Olympic team medal. I cannot wait!

James/Radford (Can) - Most unfortunate. No way, Jose. Both programs this week were BO-ring as H*. Costumes BO-ring as H*. Skated to FALLING...and fall they did. M-T/M have nothing to worry about in retaining their title and leading Team Canada pairs to the Olympics.

Gribbles (USA) - W.E. s/t. A lovely program but full of faults today. Hung on to 3rd by the skin of their teeth. Will they be able to nab the 2nd spot for the US Olympic pairs? Hmmm...not sure.

Stellato/Deschamps (Can) - 4th overall...wuz totally robbed on PCS after a spectacular free to "Hidden Citizens."

I guess different strokes for different folks. I have them as the best dressed skaters at the whole dang event

My complaint is I don’t like Vanessa in these lyrical, romantic programs. Give her warrior style programs

She's 0 for 3 on individual jumps in this competition and none of them were really even close. Sigh. The throw jumps are all tight, too. He also has had a few stumbles and balance checks halfway through the program.

It's a great program when they get it together, and I know they start slow but this is pretty rough.
Do folks remember that she had COVID over the summer? I’m just amazed she made it through the free program!

Yes, about 6-7 weeks ago. They had to withdraw from Cranberry Cup and she was in the hospital for a little bit that week.
