Interesting they are calling it "women's" and not "ladies" - even though the commentator is saying ladies :D

Drat - Carle pops her loop to a single after doing a great 3toe 3toe combo. She's skated great in the short all season too.

Hey, did you all know Twitter is streaming this? I clicked on something marked "Olympics" in the upper left corner, and suddenly I was watching Audrey Shin. Wish they'd do that sort of thing more often. (Maybe they thought it was the real Olympics. :D )

Shin

3z with a wrap-3t, tech panel should review
2a not all the way around
3r with the wrap again

Pretty good skate for her here

I do question the selection method, though, when the result is that a skater who did not qualify to nationals is selected. It would be better to use international competitions to determine the team rather than club competitions.

If I were a competitive skater, I would so skate to Carmen at least once. Good for her.

Chris mistakenly says that Kate will get the 10% bonus on both second-half jumps, though in a way I can't blame him, since I have no idea why the choreographer would deep-backload the 3Lo like that when there's no scoring benefit to doing so.

Kawabe

3z-3t great height
3r
2a

perky program, could work on posture and carriage

New leader? ETA: Yes!

Yay, she finally skated this cleanly at an international event!

One of the best music choices of the season, honestly. Should lead in components by a mile.

From one Swiss skater to a formerly Swiss skater

Mazzara

2a
moving with conviction
thought she was falling backward at one point, but it was just choreography :duh:
3r good
3t-3t
spins not particularly Swiss :shuffle:

very complete performance. Can see why France chose her for the European team

Nice job from Mazzara. Maybe sensing there's room at the top for the French ladies after a recent controversy.

Frolova

the replacement for Vasilieva

3r
2a tiny
3z-3t with wobbly entry edge into lutz, rotation looked fine
finishes behind the music

more polished than Kawabe, not as much musical engagement as Kawabe

Sinitsyna

3r
2a floaty
3z --pause-- 3t toe looked under

Some nerves. Detailed choreography. Performed it well to start and elevated her performance level at the end after the jumping passes.

Sinitsyna is certainly well trained that she managed to save that combo.

I've missed Eva Lotta. She was everywhere the first two months of the season doing both junior and senior events then she sort of disappeared.

Agreed. This is the third competition in a row where she's had a nervy performance, though. (JGPF LP, RUS Natls SP, here). Worries me for her future because there's no margin of error in Russia. :(

Ryabova

3z-3t
2a low
2r
limbs going in all directions in the step sequence

handled the mature music well

ETA: Interesting that she finished 13th at both the World Championships and World Junior Championships last season.

Tornaghi

One of the few non-power skaters to medal on the JGP this season ETA: for the ladies, she was the only medalist not representing RUS, USA, JPN, or KOR :respec:

3t-3t took her time with the entry, first jump rotated slowly, the second one a lot faster
3r quick foot down
2a big

Like her pacing, looks like she is listening to the music and expressing it

Well done. :cheer2:

I'm curious why Young You isn't doing a 3A in the SP, especially since none of Eteri's wunderkind are here. Maybe she doesn't think she needs it and based on her skate so far, she probably doesn't.
