I do question the selection method, though, when the result is that a skater who did not qualify to nationals is selected. It would be better to use international competitions to determine the team rather than club competitions.

Chris mistakenly says that Kate will get the 10% bonus on both second-half jumps, though in a way I can't blame him, since I have no idea why the choreographer would deep-backload the 3Lo like that when there's no scoring benefit to doing so.

Agreed. This is the third competition in a row where she's had a nervy performance, though. (JGPF LP, RUS Natls SP, here). Worries me for her future because there's no margin of error in Russia.

I'm curious why Young You isn't doing a 3A in the SP, especially since none of Eteri's wunderkind are here. Maybe she doesn't think she needs it and based on her skate so far, she probably doesn't.
