Really liked the Czechs! :)

Excellent skate from Wolfkostin/Chen, a totally different level so far! Loved the 1ft sequence, and great twizzles. :cheer:

Love the Japanese Don Quijote so freaking much! :cheer: PERFECT twizzles with exquisite posture! :encore: And finally no big mistake!

Are they going to seriously challenge N/K at Nats, Sylvia? I’ll watch video later but curious about your opinion.

I'm certainly no dance expert but Nguyen/Kolesnik scored 174.74 at the JGP Final, so...

Internationally, N/K have scored in the high 60s in the RD and 104-106 in their FDs.

W/C are a new team and are still adjusting to the RD (which they didn't have at the Novice level) so the best they've gotten internationally was 66.52 at Golden Spin. They've scored in the 90s in their JGPs and GS and have consistently scored higher in the FD than the two Canadian teams. But they have a way to go to 'challenge' N/K. Maybe next year (if N/K are still Juniors).

I think that Wolfkostin & Chen will be very happy if they finish second at Nationals. If they go clean, they are clear favorites to place second; but they've had 6 falls in 9 events. (Might be 10? I can name 9). It'll be a miracle if they go clean. I say that as someone who is fond of both this team and miracles. I can't say I'm keen to see them win silver with a fall, however. I would sure like to see them medal with a pair of clean skates. (Or at least a pair of cleanish skates). In their favor, most of the other teams at U.S. Junior Nationals are brand new or young teams susceptible to mistakes as well. All the U.S. teams except for Nguyen & Kolesnik have lost to W&C at least once despite a fall--at the U.S. Junior Dance Final. Having said that, Cesanek & Yehorov, DelCamp & Somerville, and the Browns have all had a couple performances that indicate they may be able to achieve an upset if W&C muck up.

Catching up and saw tyutinina and shustitsky for the first time - he looks quite tall but their names are challenging to spell to google and I couldn’t find their isu bios. Does anyone know how tall he is? I’m curious bc he looked like one of the tallest skaters I’ve seen in awhile and like he’s still growing! I liked them a lot, more my style than the gold medalists. Frolova was another tall one!

His ISU bio says he's 186 cm.
