I've been a little upset that I'm not going to be able to watch the WAG All-Around live on Thursday. However, I am off on Wednesday, which means I'll be able to watch the MAG All-Around live, and I'm feeling just a bit stoked about that.

Mainly because I think I've fallen in love with Dalaloyan and Nagornyy.

I never bought the fact that she changed. It all seemed fake for reasons I suspect but won’t go into. I couldn’t help but reply to that tweet that Jade would have been more beneficial to the team than Skinner.
You'd "change" too if someone made you aware of the lifetime of opportunities you'd miss out on if you're true colors were revealed. It took a couple if years in college to figure out that you don't win the big awards if no one can stand to be around you. And if she hadn't made said "change" there's no way in hell she'd be on tour with the team and Simone making some money. The idea that she was ever going back to college gymnastics after the Olympics was a load of horsesh*t. She definitely wasn't returning if she had an OGM. She'll go back to finish school because she wants to get into broadcasting. Like the world needs another Megyn Kelly. Yuck!

In the NBC universe, rings do not exist. Or the British team. Although to be fair, I'm pretty sure we saw the same amount of Russian and American gymnasts.

I was not going to get up at butt crack am to watch the team event tomorrow, but now I think I'd better, otherwise it's just going to be Simone Biles vault and then her practice vault over and over and discussion of her advanced age over and over and some Dutch girls arguing on the beam, and out of nowhere, Russia will win, and no one will know what in the hell is going on.

I get that swimming is live(ish) for US audiences, but do we really need to see 10 000 swimming prelims when there are medal-deciding events that could be shown? And nothing interesting really happens in the prelims--at least in track and field, someone falls on a hurdle or trips someone and there's nail polish and hair to compare. Swimming prelims over and over are just :blah: Surfing. Handball. Archery. Triathlon. Skeet shooting. Something. I don't need to see Titmouse's coach again. Like, ever.

Apparently Lori Foster went off on how the problem with Marta was team selection and rank order is “fair.” 😧

Well I don’t think rank order is fair if you go on record before and say you are picking highest scoring team.

And when the larger teams come the clearest winning strategy is to have a core All arounders and build specialists around them.

Hey, they showed it live and pretty much the whole thing, too.
I'm pretty much only watching the prime time broadcast--I don't have cable and there's only so much Olympics my poor mother can stand. She's been very understanding of my need to watch the USA team tracker AND the main coverage for gymnastics, so I don't want to push it too much during the day. Although I have convinced her she needs to watch all the basketball 3x3 and the surfing. She told me in no uncertain terms though she's done with skateboarding.

Beyond pissed at NBC’s coverage of MAG. Came home a bit late tonight hoping to catch some of it, only to see a bunch of preliminary swim races 🤬 I thought gymnastics is considered the “marquee” event of the Olympics for the USA. Reading the posts here it looks like they didn’t show much. I guess I’ll have to watch it on Peacock eventually when I can get to it. Is MAG the “Rodney Dangerfield” of US gymnastics in NBC’s warped mind or something??

I feel her on the skateboarding.

But ITU has it going on. They always live stream their events over the internet. Even as early as 2012. So watch the Mixed Relay Tris tomorrow live!

If I get up to watch that NBC Sports App coverage Live tomorrow, is it going to actually be the full competition or just piecemeal crap like NBC coverage tonight? It will be brutal to try to get thru the work day if I get up that early so I want to make sure it will be worth it.

MAG is not a Marquee event. We aren't good at it.

Do you have a cable log in? If you don't, you should be able to watch whatever the international feed shows live. This is not determined by NBC and will be constant coverage although not all athletes. If you have cable, you will be able to watch the international feed, the team USA feed which will show every routine from the USA and Russia, and the apparatus feed, which will show all routines on all apparatuses at the same time.

Incidentally, anyone with a cable log in (including sling, youtube tv, etc), can watch that coverage on demand at any time even if they do not want to get up for the morning coverage.

Every single event is live and on demand, so prime time is not going to be full coverage of most things.

Thank you @Theatregirl1122 ! Yes, I have the cable log in so I can watch the NBC Olympics Live thing (at least it worked just now when I tried it and I saw the same NBC coverage I was watching on TV, so it damn well better work tomorrow  ). Just wanted to make sure I will actually see the competition unlike tonight's NBC coverage.

Man I hope people stay off my nerves at work tomorrow cause I will be a royal beyotch getting up that early. But there's no way I'll get thru the day not hearing who won and I don't wanna be spoiled.

What time is it scheduled to end anyway? I think I will be cutting it very close to when I have to leave.

I don't know if they tell you when it's supposed to end? MAG took about 3 hours, but that's 6 rotations. I'd guess around 2 hours for WAG? Anyone else have a more precise answer?

Someone on Twitter said Russian athletes should be randomely assigned to other countries so Russia doesn’t benefit.

Can you imagine if this happened in figure skating! Here is an Eteri girl for you, and an Eteri girl for you and an Eteri girl for you!

And in gymnastics a bar girl for you and you 😂

Well Steve Kornacki and his infographics have never let me down before, I’m feeling more confident the US can make up the difference.

I felt like his numbers were questionable, but I also think the US just has to do their best and they will win. It’s just not only on Simone.

Can't follow any play-by-play because there's no way I can follow the gymnastics live here, but just wanted to pop in & say that it was great to see such a close battle in the men's team event. None of the teams were all they could be, but I did think--heading into the Olympics--that the Russians had a real shot. The best shot they had had for a long time. (Oh, what a difference an all-around talent can make). But China & Japan made it a real question mark. I kept saying all the way through the event that I thought Russia needed a lead on the other teams heading into the final event and China needed a lead on Japan heading in. Then that is how everyone went into rotation six, which made it unpredictable through the end:).

:D I love Steve Kornacki. But, when he was the one who showed up on my tv to talk gymnastics, I had to roll my eyes. Plus, if they could show Steve talking gymnastics, they could have showed me a little bit more of Yul. But, then NBC would not have been able to bring up Simone again.

A very exciting Men’s team competition. Delighted to see Russia win but it was very close. I thought after 4 rotations they were home and dry but just about got it. A great end with everyone waiting on Nagorny scores. The Top 3 were well clear.

I was shocked after Womens team qualifying to Russia leading. The US had an off day but I expect them to bounce back today. I really enjoyed the Russian gymnastics. I expected it to be US v Russia in the AA but Andrade is in the mix. Was that expected?

A very emotional send of for Chusovitina. Lovely to see the standing ovation from those in the stadium and all the lovely photos on social media.

I listened to the John Orozco interview, very disappointing to hear what he was saying. I can’t believe that some US commentators are laying the blame at Simone for the team qualifying performance, so disrespectful to an outstanding champion.

I loved the all apparatus feed. All routines…no commentary. You just need to keep your eye roaming.
