I’ll probably set an alarm for the men. Ladies and dance will have to go on without me.

Ladies happens when I'm normally awake anyway (being out here on the West coast). I'll probably just stay up and then sleep in and then do it again.

I think I will take an evening nap and then watch ladies which ends just before 3am my time. I really want to see Kaori.

Thank you. How in the world did you figure this out? I tried searching on what I thought were reasonable words - NHK, ISU, Japan, figure skating - and nothing.
I first tried figure skating, NHK Trophy, and maybe a few other phrases (can't recall how many now), got frustrated like you, and then clicked on Sports and found the links there. ;)

Re. Mitsuki Sumoto's withdrawal before the Men's SP - he was diagnosed with "gastroenteritis" according to this article:

Yukari Nakano provided some commentary after NHK Trophy Day 1 via her Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptT8-wO52lk
I learned about her new channel (launched Nov. 1) in this article: https://www.nikkansports.com/sports/news/202011280000026.html
Google translated excerpt re. Kaori Sakamoto and the Ladies FS:
... [Sakamoto] has succeeded in a continuous three-turn jump of the flip-toe loop that was moved to the latter half of the performance, and Ms. Nakano said, "A sense of speed, width, flow ... It ’s wonderful,” she said from the perspective of a former athlete.
...
For the free skate on the 28th, she said in a video of nearly 15 minutes, with expectations that "probably some players will jump on the triple accelerator [3A]. I think we can see a high level fight."
