Back from injury (if they compete). The first international they've been assigned to and hoping to earn the TES to qualify for Worlds.

Per another thread, Turkkila & Versluis are healthy now. Trying to make their argument for Worlds against Orihara & Pirinen. I'm still not quite clear on what T&V need? First, I read that they would needed a higher total score in three events. Then another poster said a higher score in two. Apparently one must be an international so this would meet that requirement.

There just are not enough events before Worlds. Bavarian Open is at the same time as Egna, and Graz is, due to Euros, not having their usual competition. AFAIK it will be how O/P do in Euros and then Egna, deciding who will get the World's spot if there is any doubt about it.

Gotcha. That would be plausible. Thank you.

Papa Boris failed his mission.
No minimums fpr Shichilov/Abecassis.

What's Davidovich doing these days? I liked her way more with him :(

Someone recalls my memory.
Who ended the partnership here and why?

Euros obviously gave some confidence boost for M/D.
Müller was selling the shit out of this program.
Finnstep looked kinda rough, but I am no teknik, so let's just wait for the scores.

71,16
41 TES
Okay, that almost sealed the deal for them.
Well done.

Slay Janse van Rensburg/Steffan!
#hopediesast
#TeamD 🇩🇪

And after 30seconds the race is decided :(
JvR fell during the finnstep, sled into Steffan and he fell over her :(
They are still selling the heck outta it :respec:

Ah she is in tears in the end pose :(
Totally perplex.
Crying in knc. He is a good supportive partner :respec:
Sinicyn seems kinda pissed, arguing.

Ouch. So they have to wait a year longer.
I really hope their hard work will pay out in the end :(

Pietrantonio used to skate with Alicia Fabbri. They were on the JGP and competitive for Canada's second junior spot for a couple seasons, though they never got the JW berth. They finished 4th several times on the JGP and medaled at 2017 JGP Italy. He's a smaller guy, and she repartnered with Ayer last season. Pietrantonio skated with another lady for a short bit last summer, but it didn't work out. (Think she decided to stay focused on synchro?) Then this partnership of Roy & Pietrantonio formed. They debuted in club events in Canada this summer and announced they would be competing for Italy. Ultimately finished 3rd at Italian Nationals. Italy lost both its #3 and #4 team from last season (maybe because it chose not to send anyone to Worlds last season despite having the 3 spots so the teams had less motivation to stay in?). Anyway, I think this may be Roy & Pietrantonio's first international? (A bronze would certainly be a good reason for Italy to send them out to an event). Roy used to skate with Oliver Zhang. They finished 10th at 2018 Canadian Junior Nationals. (Zhang is now competing under the name Eichu Cho for Japan with Fukase and just skated at 4CCs).

(Your classic example of how we encourage international relations in ice dance;)).

Welcome back!

OMG, Versluis looks stunning in his outfit
So does Turkkila.

I really liked that RD. Presented it nicely and skated with determination!

Juulia Turkila & Mathias Versluis RD
Thanks for the vid @Braulio ! Oy, his twizzles looked better than ever. So happy they are back! :cheer:

Pietrantonio used to skate with Alicia Fabbri.
I'm glad if he found himself a short enough partner! Wasn't he really tiny, like 160 or so.

Ichilov & Abecassis miss their World minimums. Not surprising for a brand new team that has been out injured all season.

What happened to Portesi Peroni & Chrastecky? So are they going to Junior Worlds and avoiding the head-to-head after winning junior nationals? Or out injured and now we will get one of these other Italian junior dance teams? I was thinking this might be a skate off here?

And the Peals finally win an advanced novice event:). Into the junior ranks they go, I think.

#TeamD 🇩🇪 WorldsRace

Jennifer JANSE VAN RENSBURG / Benjamin STEFFAN

M/D at the boards, warming up; mental games or jsut support/interest? I guess the latter, as the race is already decided.

This 'Paint it black' FD was a really good vehicle for them.
Good redemption and nice farewell to this program.
You could tell they were not 100% into it today. Steam was off after yesterday, not totally invested.
Very well skjated though.

Still very sad faces in end poses. They knew they had a real shot here :(

Next season folks!
Go on believing! One day! One day! 🙏

Not much grey hair :D
Seemed a bit cautious to me.
Especially in the first half.
More like they are getting their job done in a safe way

Very close again in FD the both teams. PCS advantage for M/D make the difference.

🇩🇪 Worlds Race total score: 705,68

Thanks so much for uploading @Braulio

OMG, I totally loved Turkkila/Versluis (these words by me  )
Stunning costumes. Lovely choreo. So many details fitting the music perfectly. I was totally stunned!
The choreo slide to end is brilliant.
I've never seen Matthias skate with so much confidence and attack.
Brilliant!

Report about Egna competition in ORF evening news for Südtirol (Alto Adige) in German, some Italian (dubbed)

In Neumarkt (Egna) competition for youth in Ice Dance, ID most difficult dicipline, like ballroom, just all takes place on ice: it's elegant, exact, fast-paced. In ID artistry is important. Dance has to convey emotion, show is a must, technique is also important, but show of utmost importance.

All started with Viennese Waltz, in the beginning of last century Viennese society loved to dance on the ice. In the twenties first competitions were held, and in 1976 ID became Olympic dicipline. Nowadays, French and Russians are said to be on top, in Italy ID is more of a peripheral phenomenon. Therefore Neumarkt is important to promote ice dance. Südtirol has as of now no ice dance team. They hope this could cange. Ice dance could be a opportunity for those, who are not so skilled in jumps.
